It’s nice to e-meet you! I’m Ashley Kervabon-Stoyanov - community-builder, strategist, founder, lover of connecting people and connecting to people.
My career began in the music industry in 2012 when I had convinced myself I wanted to be an international touring rockstar. Throughout college I interned at major record labels and publishers, worked at renowned music venues, PR agencies - all so that I could learn the ins and outs of the business I so passionately wanted to be a part of. Once I graduated, I started doing freelance PR and Marketing and moved to Portland, OR in search of a community - somewhere I could connect with like-minded people and help bring our projects forward. I started working in community marketing for Yelp which furthered my knowledge of event management and community-building around a brand. I took this knowledge and only did what seemed natural to me - I created my own community.
This community turned into what is now an organization called #WomenCrush Music that has reached thousands of music-lovers and rising women songwriters across 16 North American cities. I accidentally started a movement and was very quickly forced to learn how to be a founder, a community leader, a publicist, a program developer and so much more. It wasn’t easy, but it’s been a very rewarding journey and have been lucky enough to lead a team of 30+ remote volunteers along the way. Fast forward to 2020, and I’ve been featured on panels, interviewed in national media outlets spreading our mission and am currently working with my team to expand our programs, connect with brand partners and acquire corporate sponsorship.
While my first love was the music industry, shortly after creating #WomenCrush Music, I found myself wanting to help other founders, creative startups and local businesses succeed by developing their business strategy and assist in building their own online and offline communities. Since then, I’ve been lucky enough to work across many different industries, including managing coworking startups, growing the Fairygodboss community, consulting founders & creative entrepreneurs on how to goal-set, engage their followers, strategize for member retention and growth, launch new initiatives, secure strategic partnerships, host engaging virtual events and more. I’m the outside perspective they need when building programs and setting systems in place to take their brand to the next level.
Most recently I have taken on the role of part-time Community Director at The Mujerista to build and grow their new virtual membership community. I am currently looking to be a guest writer on like-minded blogs, helping more creative entrepreneurs/startups grow through my consulting and ultimately, continuing to spread important missions & building strong, supportive and engaged communities.
