I recently had the opportunity to hear Shahid present at the Conference Board of Canada's Public Sector Social Media Conference, where he spoke about the value of using social media for recruitment. Of the many great presentations that I heard over the course of two days, the one quote that sticks in my mind is as follows: "Create content, care about your audience and your audience will care about you". What wise words! Coupled with his very personal style, this made Shahid's presentation one of the highlights for me. And while I don't use social media for recruitment as much as I do to engage in conversations with Canadians about public health, it is still a valuable way to look at how to use social media to achieve my organizational goals.

I was fortunate enough to have attended Canada's 1st Social Recruiting Seminar in Calgary and would highly recommend it. Personally I had a lot of very useful takeaways which I was able to implement immediately. Social Recruiting Seminar (SRS) radically changed my understanding of both recruiting and the number of paths that can exist to become a successful recruiter.
