Software developer turned business developer turned MBA turned VC turned entrepreneur. I've had experience across the spectrum of startup life, from funding to exit. I organize @digitalbrown and @penndigital; I'm formerly @genacast.
I managed partnerships with banks across Latin America at UniTeller Financial Services, a family remittance company. I helped Univision launch a prepaid debit card for underbanked Hispanic Americans.
I have spoken on the topic of Latin American business to organizations including Siemens Healthcare. I am a mentor for BombaCAMP, an accelerator in Santiago, Chile, and I taught the first Lean Startup Machine weekend in Latin America. I have spoken on the topic am fluent in Spanish. I love Latin culture and helping others understand it.
I worked at early-stage VC Genacast Ventures. I raised capital for my startup, Beer Dreamer. I like helping promising startups with fundraising. I'll tell you if I don't think VC is the right fundraising path for you and I promise not to waste your time.
I managed partnerships with banks across Latin America banks for UniTeller Financial Services, a family remittance company now owned by Mexican mega-bank Banorte. I also consulted the credit card industry at management consulting and data analytics boutique Inductis, and helped Univision launch their prepaid co-branded MasterCard debit card.
I founded Beer Dreamer, a startup whose gift packages of high-end craft beers and perfectly-paired foodstuffs was called “genius” by Food & Wine Magazine and made gift lists from First We Feast to Refinery29. We partnered with top-50 breweries including Victory, Brooklyn, Stillwater Artisanal, etc. I am also a Certified Cicerone.
There are so many blog posts on raising venture capital, but what if you're earlier than that? "Friends and family" is a category, not a strategy. I'll help you navigate this early stage without burning your relationships, as well as learn how to reach out to professional angels and micro-VCs investing at the same stage.
Jordan has a deep understanding of payments and was able to re-focus my direction by focusing on the why vs. the how. He offered great insights on the nuances of both the Latin American market as well as the payments sector. I recommend speaking with him to a) evaluate an opportunity b) work in or with latin america c) understand payments . He gave constructive feedback and addressed all questions with enthusiasm and great perspective.
Very helpful with a particular issue and follow up assistance appreciated
Jordan has a lot of experience from both the entrepreneur and investor points of view and was able to offer us very valuable help on our fundraising strategy. Recommended!
Jordan worked closely with me on several important strategic initiatives as a Consulting Assistant to Managing Principal. He is a quick learner, mature beyond his experience and quite independent in managing his work. He will be a good team player in any situation.
Having worked with Jordan while he was a member of the Wharton School's Student Technology Advisory Board, I found him to be engaged, thoughtful, and incisive. His candid feedback and insightful analyses were instrumental in advancing the Wharton School's technology platforms and services. He was a significant asset to the team.
The value of Jordan's contribution as a Global MBA intern for SK Telecom was recognized at the highest executive levels at SK Telecom and its holding company for his insight, candor, and clarity. These characteristics were particularly meaningful and critically important in this culture-centric company as many locals were able to experience first hand the advantages of having creative, culturally diverse talent working among them.
Part of Jordan's team practical experience was to assist OpenCraft in our general business plan processes. Out of the team, Jordan stood out as an intelligent, cultural sensitive, and energetic consultant. I found his work to be well thought off and practical! I would recommend working with Jordan to any of my associates.
After Fone2Fone's original product had failed to gain traction in the market, Jordan and I went back to the drawing board to revamp the company's business strategy and reset our focus. Recognizing that Fone2Fone's competitive advantage was based on its understanding of the importance of the mobile contact list / phone book as representing an individual’s organic social network (something TechCrunch unfortunately realized only two and a half-years later – http://techcrunch.com/2010/09/04/mobile-contacts-social-network/ - thanks TechCrunch for being there when we needed you), together with the technology we had developed for platform agnostic access to it, Jordan helped us develop a new business model based around channel partnership and distribution. In addition to his strategic insights Jordan was very helpful on the ground. He leveraged his personal network to introduce us to our first channel partner, as well as helped us secure an additional round of financing.
Above all, Jordan helped my team and I navigate problems and opportunities by challenging us to get to the heart of the issues, rather than tackling only what was visible at the surface. He is innovative, determined, and knowledgeable, and I hope to work with him again in the future.
Jordan worked in our team when our integration platform and processes surrounding it were at its infancy stage. He worked very hard to help us integrate with our first few partner financial institutions/banks in Mexico and other Latin-American countries. During these integrations he developed very detailed documentation of processes and procedures for our standard integration platform and made it one quality mature platform to be used for years to come. He managed very critical relationships with the commercial and technical teams of our partners and made the initial technical sale of our integration paradigm. In some cases he indirectly managed the progress and details of the project for our partners to complete the integration on time. He traveled internationally to support and complete various relationships with high profile partner banks and financial institutions.
Jordan has very pleasing personality and he got along very well with other team members. He has a big appetite for learning and he made sure he understood all the details of what he is doing and why he is doing. This comprehensive approach gave him edge in long run and he could help us make many improvements in our company.
I recommend Jordan without any reservations for any career path he chooses for himself. He is surely a great asset to have in your team and company.
