Deepak and I worked together on a transformational initiative to move Citi's Global Consumer Technology organization from a 'project-centric' culture to a 'product-centric' culture. When he was intially assigned to me as my Project Manager, I was quickly impressed with his ability to help me get organized and gain control over our in-flight efforts.

What I didn't expect was Deepak's deep product management knowledge, which proved to be even more valuable as he became a trusted advisor and excellent sounding board. His mastery in the product development space, coupled with his passion and enthusiasm made him a valuable partner and business ally.

Deepak has worked in my team for over 7 years and he has been extremely diligent Product Development Manager who plans and executes well. He doggedly pursues the program milestones and overcomes all the challenges on the way. He used to give topmost priority to quality and customer satisfaction and I was always happy to have in my A-team

Deepak is an exceptional consultant who is able to bring clarity to complex issues. On the project I worked on with him, he helped the client to articulate the scope and objectives of their initiative thru a very helpful and meaningful diagram. It was widely adopted and eventually used by senior management in a much broader company communication. Deepak is well respected by both his colleagues for his abilities and by the client for his capabilities. He is a true asset to any organization.

Deepak took over from me the role of onsite coordinator for Nortel Networks , Canada.
Even though he was junior to me , his introduction to that role was very easy for me ,
and his performance was impressive.
I was sure that I handed over to the right person.
He brought in more process and preformed brilliantly in that role.
I know Deepak from the time he joined Wipro Technologies, as a young engineer who was technically sharp and always ready to take up challenges.
He always had a different perspective and approach to solve the engineering problems and management issues, which explains why he is a Leader now.

Deepak is a great leader, mentor, a veteran, a philosopher, intelligent yet humble, energetic and charming team leader. He finds fun in any critical situation and come out with solution. When this great acumen strategist put any idea he ensures its success path.

I remember my first interaction with Deepak. During first meeting I got an idea that I am going to have a huge experience and learning with this person and that came out true as my approach towards work totally changed during this period. Deepak has a tremendous appetite for work and he is an expert consultant and excellent manager in a sense he define the success and achievement definition at first place for whatever initiative he takes or roadmap he recommends. He is a mentor for me to redefine my career goals and I am trying to evolve as great human being like him in life.

I am sure very soon I would be asking at a book store for some book on "Envisioning till Implementation of Strategy" kind of written by Mr. Deepak Alse.

During my onsite assignment , we were working round the clock on a very critical technical issue. Deepak was the onsite co-coordinator at that time. I found him a really hardworking and dedicated person with clarity of thoughts. His positive frame of mind, a smiling face and calm attitude even under very difficult times inspired the team to think differently while handling that critical situation. He worked tirelessly with us in the lab to recommend a solution and also led from the front to implement the same.
For the team building exercises, he always came back with innovative ideas on implementing the required procedures and did not hesitate to share his ideas, which really helped the team a lot.
Deepak has excellent communication skills and as business interface liaison, he has set very high benchmark standards in flawless execution, strategy implementation and globalization.
As a person, he has fostered excellent relationships with his management and colleagues. He is always approachable and is more than willing to extend a helping hand and even goes an extra mile for the same.
Thanks a lot for all your support and guidance.Wish you all the very best for all your future endeavours.

Working with Deepak was sheer pleasure. He was always ahead of the times and used to read electronics magazines and IEEE papers when the rest of us were still struggling to figure out the basics. His love for electronics was evident from the level of enthusiasm he displayed while doing the project "Network enabled control of devices". Deepak is organized, methodical and focussed. He starting using Microsoft Project to track the development of our college project and believe me, it worked. Knowing him as a person, I firmly believe that he is going to do justice to role of a leader. Good luck!

Considering the three key strengths you have ( Clothing experience, Access to multiple brands and physical outlets), and the specifics of Argentina's online retail space, I'd go with option 2. Gilt does have a unique brand image and you can develop something that has more sustainable competitive edge. Trying to be a mix of all things for everyone will put you in competition with someone like Mercado Libre and also strain your focus. Many of the other themes and products you mention fit under the 'Lifestyle' category and those will be a logical extension once you establish yourself as a good focussed fashion/clothing online retailer. All the cross-reference and sub-sites style architecture creates great business for those in the business of search engine optimization and generating clicks but there is little evidence that such a model does indeed create a higher margin or higher volume of business. The benefit for investing in a focussed brand for online retail is that it tends to generate a higher order of repeat business and that is something worth considering in a country like Argentina where the internet retail business has a significantly higher level of penetration when compared to many other countries. The business of promoting a web of online properties is a complicated exercise that sounds very exciting but it is not necessarily the best way to establish your online presence. You have physical multi-brand retail outlets and I'd lean towards a hybrid online presence model that will use the online presence for brand building and the store as well as related supply chain for operations. Again, the answer lies in the details for what you want to accomplish first with the online business - You want Scale, or Margins, or Sustainable business based on branding or just skim the market for whatever opportunities exist?

Here's a few things I've done for B2B engagement with a startup.

1. Engage with their primary IT services/solutions vendor for a three-way deal that commits the vendors support for your product for a 3-5 year timeframe - This will mean a margin erosion, but you'll benefit from having a larger partner and the execs will be comforted by the fact that there's a longer term support vision.
2. Put your code and design in escrow - There are many source code escrow options and you should negotiate the contracts carefully and with good legal advise.
3. Build your pricing mechanism in ways that stagger/cycle payments over a longer period of time - This is tougher when you are starting up, but it maybe a point on the negotiating block that will help the vendor managers/contract teams lean towards you.

Your 'Go To Market' strategy should envision as many scenarios as possible and build a response case around each. There is no single silver bullet that will convince all execs who deal with startups.

Deepak Alse Radhakrishna, Simplifying problems, products and projects answered:

You should start with understanding the 'Pulse Polio Initiative' that the Government of India(GoI) runs. GoI is a critical player in any plans you'll have for entering the Indian market. The 'red tape' will depend on the type of Polio vaccine you intend to introduce - IPV/OPV. There are many Indian manufacturers of polio vaccines and they will be your competition as well as sources of red tape. Until recently, there were no IPV manufacturers, but now the Serum Institute is a significant player in the IPV space, locally and globally.
