David was a great listener and enthusiastic about my big bold plans for my company. David immediately applied his mind to my challenges and collaborated with me options and ways to go about reaching my planned goals. I highly recommend him.
Source: Clarity Tobie van Zyl Sep 3, 2013David Chan was a great supervisor and mentor for my time at AD Publishing. He saw my potential in social media marketing and research from the beginning of my internship.
He assigned tasks that seemed taunting to me and guided me through the process. While researching marketing tools for a partner company, he asked me to create a presentation of my findings and present it live to the company representatives. It was not only a experience where I gained market research skills, but presentation and business development skills.
He gave me ownership on AD Publishing Clients social media pages and trusted me in creating and posting positive and engaging facebook, twitter, and blog posts.
AD Publishing also offered many training sessions and networking opportunities for all the interns to use--whether it was marketing or entrepreneurship.
David also always looked for opportunities for me to grow and learn more. He never hesitated to help me network with people and find job opportunities when the time came for me to search for paid work.
It was a pleasure working with him and the AD Publishing team. I still use the valuable information I gained from my internship with them.

ADPublishing and David provided the guidance and encouragement needed for interns to grow as an individual. He is passionate about the company and is always available for advice with a friendly and welcoming smile. I truly enjoyed working with David--it has been a wonderful experience.
Source: LinkedIn Pinky Cheung Jun 29, 2013David is a great team leader with lots of idea on how to enrich the internship program. He also likes to get in touch with all of the interns to share his visions.
Source: LinkedIn Grace Leung Jun 29, 2013David is a great leader and has helped shape and define my career path as it is today. He has taken time to personally seek what my interests were and incorporated them into specialized projects to help develop my skills. He also gave me responsibilities as a Project and Special Events Coordinator to imitate that of a project management associate to help me gain a better understanding of the industries I wanted to pursue a career in. David went a step further and got in contact with a senior level management consultant to share his experiences and qualifications with me to encourage and direct me towards my career goals. I can honestly say that David has impacted my life in various ways and I will always cherish the opportunity to have worked with such an accomplished and motivating individual.
Source: LinkedIn Eric Ho Jun 29, 2013In life and in business, David Chan knows how to operate the right way. As an intern, David opened my eyes to the exciting world of online marketing. He trusted me with his clients and allowed me to develop a project based on my personal interests. Most importantly, I've always felt like I had my own voice.
Whether it be a developing project or an inventive idea, there's always something interesting brewing with David. As a mentor, businessman, and friend, David carries a positive attitude and is willing to listen. David Chan's ability to connect with others and willingness to share knowledge are qualities that I highly value and hope to incorporate in my professional and personal life.
David is an awesome leader. He is nice and willing to teach and share with the interns. ADPublishing's internship is amazing. Interns can not only open their eyes to the digital marketing world, but also building networking with other interns.
Source: LinkedIn Yumiko Xi Huang Jun 29, 2013David is an outstanding supervisor and mentor who provides interns with endless opportunities to learn and grow. David's passion for business and marketing is contagious, and he truly wants to see everyone he works with succeed. What set this internship apart from others was that David wanted interns to learn while doing what they love. He did an excellent job of matching interns with projects they were passionate about, as I was able to learn beneficial marketing and social media skills while working on music-related projects. David supplemented exceptional real-world experience with educational meetings that taught new marketing skills and meetups with local entrepreneurs. David's entrepreneurial spirit continues to inspire me, and he is always an excellent source of career advice. Interning with David provided me with an ideal foundation in marketing that prepared me for the job I have today.
Source: LinkedIn Casey Specht Jun 29, 2013David is an exceptional person who to work with. He clearly has many strengths in the marketing field, and I learned a lot from him during my time with the AdPublishing team, from useful marketing techniques to social media strategies. This internship allowed me to implement and develop writing and editing skills as promotional tools via blogging, which I thought was really educational and taught me to be more self-directed. Not only did I appreciate the internship program, but as a mentor David is approachable and easygoing, someone who welcomes conversation. His personable and hardworking qualities made him an excellent supervisor.
Source: LinkedIn Tanya Vu Jun 29, 2013David was the advisor to many internship groups, and was the sole advisor for the two separate ventures that I was involved in. David was always open to any questions that I had about the goals of the projects and what I could do to better serve their overall aims. When I was struggling with editing for one of the projects, David very logically and practically helped me maneuver the issue. He advised me to think about why I was struggling and what I could do to either fix the problems or not. Upon deciding that the project was not worth it anymore for me, and ultimately ending my work for it, David was extremely understanding and helped me move on to a project that better suited my needs and goals. Other interns that I worked with had a similar experience working with David. His general openness and understanding provides a working and learning environment in which students can truly grow according to their goals.
Source: LinkedIn Andrea R. Herman Jun 29, 2013The best way to learn is to go to industry events put on by both angel and VC forums. For example, in the SF Bay Area this company regularly sponsors events to understand the space https://sv.tie.org/initiative/tie-angels. You can also check out SARTA in the Sacramento region.
If you're looking to actually get involved in raising money that's a different question.
