What is the best way to learn more about startup fundraising?

The best way to learn is to go to industry events put on by both angel and VC forums. For example, in the SF Bay Area this company regularly sponsors events to understand the space https://sv.tie.org/initiative/tie-angels. You can also check out SARTA in the Sacramento region.

If you're looking to actually get involved in raising money that's a different question.

David Chan was a great supervisor and mentor for my time at AD Publishing. He saw my potential in social media marketing and research from the beginning of my internship.

He assigned tasks that seemed taunting to me and guided me through the process. While researching marketing tools for a partner company, he asked me to create a presentation of my findings and present it live to the company representatives. It was not only a experience where I gained market research skills, but presentation and business development skills.

He gave me ownership on AD Publishing Clients social media pages and trusted me in creating and posting positive and engaging facebook, twitter, and blog posts.

AD Publishing also offered many training sessions and networking opportunities for all the interns to use--whether it was marketing or entrepreneurship.

David also always looked for opportunities for me to grow and learn more. He never hesitated to help me network with people and find job opportunities when the time came for me to search for paid work.

David was the advisor to many internship groups, and was the sole advisor for the two separate ventures that I was involved in. David was always open to any questions that I had about the goals of the projects and what I could do to better serve their overall aims. When I was struggling with editing for one of the projects, David very logically and practically helped me maneuver the issue. He advised me to think about why I was struggling and what I could do to either fix the problems or not. Upon deciding that the project was not worth it anymore for me, and ultimately ending my work for it, David was extremely understanding and helped me move on to a project that better suited my needs and goals. Other interns that I worked with had a similar experience working with David. His general openness and understanding provides a working and learning environment in which students can truly grow according to their goals.
