MenuWhat's the best value self-directed (Roth and Traditional) IRA?
I'm looking to self-direct my retirement account using a service that's easy to use (like Cash app, Robinhood, etc) to make and track trades with the funds in my Roth IRA and traditional IRA.

I've been investing since I was 10 years old. I opened accounts at the top ten most popular brokerages in search of the very best custodian for my IRAs.
The best brokerage for IRAs is Fidelity. Fidelity is a world-class financial institution. Unlike Robinhood, Fidelity doesn't sacrifice functionality for excessive simplicity. Fidelity offers every type of financial account and access to almost every asset class.
If you started your investment journey using Cash App and Robinhood, that's fine. However, as you learn more, you will quickly outgrow Robinhood.
Fidelity is a brokerage for grownups. Once you start to explore what Fidelity has to offer, Robinhood will look like a joke in comparison.
As far as my knowledge goes in this matter, here are the following options for you:
Equity Trust Company offers both self-directed Roth and traditional IRAs. Low account fees start at $135 per year. Supports a wide variety of alternative investments like real estate, private companies, precious metals, etc. Over $25 billion in assets are under custody.
IRA Services Trust Company is another low-cost leader in self-directed IRAs. Annual fees start at $75 for basic custody services. Access to diverse alternative assets. Over $16 billion in retirement account assets were serviced.
Broad Financial offers competitive pricing with account fees ranging from $97 to $295 per year, depending on the services needed. Specializes in real estate IRAs but supports other assets too. Has over $8 billion in custodial account values.
Kingdom Trust Company: Account fees range from $100 to $250 based on the choice of service. Offers flexibility to invest in traditional as well as non-traditional assets. Does not charge transaction fees, which adds to the overall value.
New Direction IRA: Account setup fees start at $100 and annual fees start at $295. A wide menu of alternative investments supported, including private companies, startups, loans, tax liens, etc.
I was a licensed financial advisor for many years and served as a partner in a boutique hedge fund.
There are a lot of options, but I would look for a brokerage that offers free equity trades and a wide variety of low-cost or no-cost funds and ETFs. In my opinion, Fidelity does a great overall job and could be a good solution for your needs. You could also consider Vanguard and E-Trade, but I think Fidelity's technology and overall platform are superior. Hope this helps!
I'm happy to schedule a call to help with other investment and retirement questions you may have.

What is the best way to reach semi-retired or retired professionals?
Paid advertising on social media, particularly Twitter, Facebook and LinkedIn can be highly targeted and so I am sure you could find relevant keywords and topics to target using those platforms. Depending on where you are in the world, look for events on meetup.com and/or Yelp. There are almost certainly going to be groups and events related to your target demographic. Think book clubs, wine clubs, sports, theatre etc. Digital signposting - e.g. screens at medical establishments, local public transport, gas stations. Lastly, perhaps advertise at night-schools or venues that host a lot of evening classes.SC

Best personal finance/investment app or offline software?
I have been working in personal finance for 18 years, am a Certified Financial Planner(TM), and hold a Master of Science degree in personal financial planning... Mint.com and Quicken, both products of the company Intuit, are clear leaders in the personal finance application space. Mint.com is for those who don't mind having all their data stored in the "cloud" and want a free product in exchange for seeing advertisements. While Quicken is a paid offline software package. Like Mint, Quicken is fully capable of automatically importing your bank and credit card transactions, and categorizing those transactions based on your rules. It is also far more flexible than Mint for the creation of custom categories. There are certainly other options -- Yodlee, Guide, Balance, to name a few -- but the companies and features are still in early development compared to the offerings of Intuit. I am an active user of each of these software packages and services. If you have any follow up questions, feel free to schedule a call with me.KK
