MenuWhat is the best HR automation system in the market and why?
I am interested to know which systems are most widely used in the US, UK & India.

Zenefits is top of mind, growing fast and operating all over the U.S., which is incredible because they're only a few years old. All of their HR services are free, like tracking employee PTO, changing 401K contribution amounts etc. etc., but Zenefits also employs a small army of insurance brokers. If you use Zenefits you can continue using your current insurance broker for employee health care policies, but they can offer you a quote as well. That's where a big chunk of their revenue comes from, which is fine. Btw the CEO still serves as the Zenefits administrator for the company, which I think is really cool, but that's coming from a product guy. Anyway I researched this topic last month, hope it helps.

In India you have one of the best flexible, agile HR system that fits in any device for HR management is ApHusys. You have a base version which is free module and pay per use for other modules as you go. This keeps budget low and effective if used for advanced modules.
I have personally implemented Ultimate Software in various companies and feel it is the best HRIS on the market. One platform can do payroll, on-boarding, sourcing, benefits, etc. Reasons for outperforming competition is because of the seamless integration and assistance during install. Have worked with Paycor, Paychex, Bamboo, etc. and nothing seems to compare. http://www.ultimatesoftware.com

UDEMY: How to detect which niche is still profitable?
I've had great experience as a user of Udemy and write my own courses but offer those privately for my clients. It's always better to build a course that answers a specific need. Think about the avatar for your business. You can't meet everyone's needs. Build a course with no more than 8 segments or modules with 4 - 8 learning segments within each module. You will allow the user to achieve rapid and measurable results by completing each section and ending each module with an assessment (quiz) that further validates learning the skill. Udemy is easy to use so you will have a broad audience looking for specific needs.JE

What does your a team look like for a software company of ten or less people? Or, how do you think it should be?
Instead of looking at who does what .. why not look at the things that need to get done for a small techology team. Product: 6 people - 3 full stack engineers - 2 front end developers - 1 designer / product person Marketing & Community, 1 person - Full time hire, or CEO Support & Operations, 1 person - Part time hire, or CEO + Whole team I believe it's important for everyone on the team to help with support. Also, if you have a great product, then support shouldn't be that taxing. Q&A is usually needed when you have a bad development process (no unit testing or continuous integration deployments). Outsource everything else. - Bookeeping - HR stuff - Legal - Government program paperwork Hope that helps. P.S. I would put as many people on product as that's where you'll get the most bang for your buck.DM

I need to fire an engineer at my startup for poor performance but he goes on holidays from Saturday. Should I do it now or wait until he gets back?
Please resist the urge to pull the band-aid. I'm not a fan of keeping a poor performer, but unless this person is a behavioral or "for cause" termination, he deserves some professionalism here. 30-day Performance Plan, make the goals aggressive and stick to it - he can consider that his head start to either buck up or start searching. Remember, your other employees watch how you treat their former colleagues. A quick termination before a holiday is prickish, an aggressive performance plan is taking care of business.JW

How would you go about asking for a potential employer to pay for travel expenses and take it off from your first check?
You don't. Research the company and hiring manager or would be manager/leader to such things like their needs, recent prior events (& whom else would have been there), near future company goals, products and find a place within that need structure where you would add material value. Then craft what is called a Speculative Application. Get yourself into a position in which travel might be an option as part of your roles.HV

I'm using Squarespace. Can I have a box where customers drag and drop their video files and uploaded to a storage account?
https://www.filepicker.io/ is the best thing that you can integrate with this app which suits your requirement. If you are the owner of the app, you can integrate it very quickly. If not, you can suggest the app owner to do it Feel free to call me if you need more clarification. I am consulting architect for few companies in US and India on mobile, web and windows/linux/mac apps.PP
