MenuI need to figure out how to buy baby bottles in bulk for my business. Do I contact distributors, wholesalers, or manufacturers? How do I go about it?
This question has no further details.
Answers
You can check out 2 sites: www.aliexpress.com/ and www.alibaba.com.
alibaba has the ability for you to contact distributors directly.
Debbie
Whilst you are understanding the costs, timelines and quantities, I'd look at all your options as you've listed. I agree with Debbie's suggestion.
Best to get a wide mix of prices and options and then focus in.
I've been an entrepreneur for years, but never in consumer product goods. I just recently started sourcing manufacturing directly from China and its been working well. Basically my process was to scour alibaba (aliexpress is too expensive) and then negotiated with them by playing them against each other. Essentially I took my product cost from 3.85 to .77 by going offshore. I would be willing to go over a step by step process to help you source the bottles.
If our call isn't worth the money I'll just refund you, no questions asked. I kinda just want to help you out because I'm interested in doing this more. I'll also give you free email support until what we talked about in the phone is accomplished.
Let me know if you want to chat about it more. Just shoot me a message.

I would not recommend www.aliexpress.com or/and www.alibaba.com. There is a lot of run around with both of those sites. I would look for a factory overseas that can help you get a high-quality bottle. How do you connect with someone? You can do a simple google search to start out and start digging from there. Or you need to work with someone who has worked with these factories in the past. I have overseas connections from working with clients in the past. Its a lot of digging annd networking, but worth it in the long run.

How do build a empowered and motivated engineering team?
I am assuming your question is more pertaining to empowering and motivating (rather than hiring). I can outline some of the practices I have seen really result in high motivation and sense of ownership among engineering teams: * Empathize - Your engineering team will work well and be more motivated if they see you as one of them rather than a person who doesn't understand their function. Show your geeky side to them, and show that you understand their thought process and drivers. * Pick their brain on big and small decisions (roadmap, usability, whatever it is) - Product teams value being heard. The more you position yourself as someone who is WANTS to listen, is keen to have their inputs, you will be surprised at how involved they can get, and also how you can actually tap into a lot of smart ideas/thoughts from them that you can develop on. * Take care to explain - show how you arrive at decisions. Share your research, competitive analysis, and even your thought process on arriving at a feature set or list of things for a release. Its stuff you would have worked on anyway - so no harm sharing with more eyes! * Share customer feedback - nothing motivates your engineers than a positive interaction with a customer. Get them to see customer feedback. Have them sit in and observe some of the usability studies. (B2B - have them see you do some demos or do a successful sales pitch) * Send out interesting articles, insights, business and tech articles with your comments/highlights to them on a regular basis (maybe twice a week?) - maybe even some analysis you did on competition or customer feedback * Engineers like working with people they feel are competent and complement the work they are doing to build a great product. So make sure they see how everyone else around them is also doing a good job and adding value and contributing to the success of the product. * Be transparent about the product/business - Make them feel they are responsible and involved in the business, not just technology. I've seen engineering teams happy about their annual goals having components relating to making revenues, keeping customers happy, or reducing costs. If they are enthused about the business as a whole, they will be more motivated with their engineering efforts * Have a mix of little experiments, R&D, attending to engineering debt, in addition to bug fixes and new features that each engineer gets to spend some time on (based on their interest) * Finally get to know each of your engineers personally, and be aware of what their priorities are. Each of us has different motivations in life, so there is no silver bullet to motivate people. When they know you care for them, they are more motivated :).SG

I have my own shopify store and sell wholesale. How do I encourage customers to buy from me rather than my stockists?
We sell both through the retail chain and direct on our website. The only way to encourage customers to buy from you rather than your stockists is to provide more value than your retailers. The advantage you have as a manufacturer is your intense knowledge for your products. Educate your customers on exactly why your products are the perfect fit and show them how the product would function in their lives. Make the process easy, delivery quick, customer service awesome, and build a unique connection with your customer by telling your story. The one thing you WILL NOT want to do is under cut your stockists on price. Stick to your MSRP and encourage your stockists to abide by that as well. Take price out of equation and rather than thinking of "how can I cut price to move more products," think "how can I add more value to this product to move more products." Hope this helps!EB

How do I start a successful business for a beginner with a low budget? Buying wholesale then reselling? What products to start with and where to sell?
Budget is definitely important for a successful business, but it is not everything! As a young entrepreneur, I started a similar business earlier in my career selling eyeglasses on eBay. I created an eBay store, worked on advertising, and was fortunate with my results. I would love to speak with you about starting a website and marketing effectively to consumers with a very small budget. The biggest recommendation I can provide is to test different services at a low budget to see what works. Rather than spending thousands of dollars on a marketing agency, there are many services that can help your iPhone case business in marketing effectively. Feel free to reach out to me!JS

What is the best way to break into Product Management?
Hello Aidan. I was recently featured on a panel at General Assembly for an audience looking to make a career shift towards product management. In 2014 I moved from a marketing / user engagement role at a software startup to product management. The transition is still fresh in my mind. Based on the experience on your LinkedIn profile, it seems like you would be well-equipped to make the switch. You have a technical background, experience with generating team outcomes and strategic direction. I think the challenge you face is not whether you have the right skills and resources, but rather how you would like to apply them. Product management is broad and so is your choice of employers. It would be great to jump on a call to get a better context of your situation so I can give you specific tips on how to put your best foot forward.ML

What is the best way to evaluate a candidate for product manager?
Some of this is stage dependent and all of it is highly dependent on the team above the product manager. The simplest answer of course is to find PM's from companies who have had exemplary success where the Product Manager candidate either led prior success or was exposed to it in a meaningful way. A simple starting point is to ask them to give you examples of conflicting opinions on a feature and how they evaluated the conflicting opinions and made a decision and tracked the success or failure of that decision. AirBnb actually gives PM's homework as part of the interview process where they have to actually present a unique idea (from scratch) to the interviewing team. Happy to talk to you about best process based on your stage and existing team.TW
