We are setting up a blog for www.Iconery.com. Wanted to learn whether we should do it as editorial.iconery.com or www.iconery.com/editorial? Does it matter for SEO purposes?

Its the same. But the smartest thing to do using subdomain or directory is to keep them as short as possible.
