Which country offers the best outsourcing value for tech entrepreneurs?

Hello,

It depends on the type of activities, skillset and infrastructure that you're talking about. In general, if the jobs are more to create mass production.. India, China, Philippines and probably emerging location like Vietnam and Pakistan will be a good.

if you're talking about higher value activities example development center for digital enterprise, Malaysia is a good location in terms of talent and infrastructure support.

How do I expand my network with people who are MORE influential than I am? I'm looking for tips and tricks to do this online (with LinkedIn, etc)

We tend to hangout with someone that we found interesting to talk to especially when the subject is related to what we love the most. Highly unlikely we want to spend our time with someone that is cold..boring. Same goes to the person that you wish to impress.

We may apply the same concept online. Just find out the person's interest... Let say, he love martial arts and have active conversation in few groups. Join the groups, and start talking the same language.. until he notice that you're the interesting one to talk to. You may have high chances to meet him for a coffee. Based on my experience, it works like magic! the great part is.. we became good friends. Cheers

How can small consultancies close BIG companies as clients?

Based on my experience, sometimes dealing with big companies are easier than smaller ones.

Business is about creating customers. We would need to pay close attention on what they need.. and offer them a BIG reason; why they should hire you.

For me, it's about the value that we could bring to the table. Small or Big companies it doesn't really matter.

Fact or Fiction? You NEED side a job when creating a business because there is no way to make money for 6-12 months

Hello,

Good question and a bit tricky..

You may need to access the financial aspect, liquidity ratios etc.. how long the business could sustain without having to go to work. Some business can make money in 2-3 months, some 6 months and some take more than a year. it really depends on the nature of business and readiness of your company to compete in the market.

Before that.. you may want to do feasibility study or at least study business cases as reference to finalize business plan, revenue model, marketing strategy and financial projection

The above exercises could help you to comfortably forecast, whether you need to work or not.. to support the business.

What do you do when your vision for the company diverge too much from your partners'?

I enjoyed reading comments from other experts here which has provided good insights and perspectives. if I may add a little bit.. creating a high performance culture is a journey that I recommend you to work on for your business. the people in the organization needs to acknowledge that there is this problem. It can't be only you feeling the heat, but, others must also understand and acknowledge the situation. your ability to create a good dialogue with your stakeholders - to negotiate on your way forward is KEY. start with seperating people from problem. if you think people is the problem.. it is very hard to get a dialogue..

Meeting with a very senior executive.

Don't confuse yourself or the customer.
It goes back to your objective of the meeting. Different objectives may set different way and intonation of discussion. If your objective is to sell the solution, you may need to prepare the relevant sales kit. If you set the right expectation, it will be much easier for you to navigate the discussion.

For meeting senior executives, it is always good to know the company information, his profile, who is he in the company, what he have done or future projects.. but as our friend Jacob said.. Don't be intimidated by him or his position.

Both yourself and partner may need to come up with the agreed calculation method to calculate the weightage of Contributions from both of you. The basic idea is to :

1. quantify both contributions
2. convert it to percentage

so you can determine the profit sharing.
