What are some of the most ingenious ways to increase traffic to a website?

Are we speaking only about SEO here or about all the ways to generate traffic to a website?

If we're speaking about SEO the best way is to start blogging and by this I mean as much as possible. Every single blog post is a new content, a new page that can be found by the search engines (and your customers as well).

You might also think about creating ebooks. You will not only generate traffic with them but also leads which you can nurture to become your customers.

Start building your communities on Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Google+, Pinterest and share your blog posts there. Engage in conversations and provide value to others.

Use social sharing websites like Reddit, Stumbleupon and Digg.

A great tool for linkbuilding and PR/Social media exposure is BuzzStream http://www.buzzstream.com/ You might want to check it out.

Start a blog on the topic of growing a business. Make a YouTube channel and record yourself talking, write an ebook (Free or paid), be active on the social media (especially LinkedIn and Twitter), guest blog post for websites that are worth it.

How much should early-stage startups with limited resources invest in their brand, and what are the most critical components?

I think when we're speaking about "limited resources" we actually mean 3 things: time, people and money.

So I will try to cover all of them:

1. Time

The best time to start building your brand is the moment you've got your idea for your business. You must build brand awareness while you're building your product and you should communicate the progress with your audience.

That way when you actually launch you will already have a community that you can work with.

Spend as much time as you can and start doing it as early as possible. Simply because your products/services are not going to sell by itselves.

2. People

Most of the startups I know hire too many engineers and not enough marketers. It's very rare that you will succeed with only 1 person dealing with SEO, content development, community building, PR, etc. Have at least 2-3 people in your marketing team or consider oursourcing some of the work.

I have an inbound marketing agency myself and can offer you a fair price for an exceptional service and results.

3. Money

Your marketing budget should be around 10-15% of your funding/revenue. I suggest you invest more into inbound marketing activities to see a bigger return of investment.

It is hard to tell where to put your money exactly because I don't know specifics about your business. If you need a marketing advice, don't hesitate to call me and I will try to help you in the best way I can.

How do you send traffic to OLD posts on your blog/site? Got any ideas for recycling quality and timeless content?

You can also make:

updates to the old posts
write a follow-up posts to the old ones
repurpose your content: use the blog posts to write an ebook, make a webinar, etc.
make different lists of your posts in a post
make a youtube video on the same topic and link to the blog post in the description

Hello Areriel,

It can be hard to know where to start at beginning. What I suggest you do it to start a blog about the things you'd like to be doing. Then start building you following on the social media. Use Facebook, Twitter and Google+ to connect and engage with industry professionals.

Go to industry events and connect with people. Make business cards of your blog and give it to them. Be interested in what they do and they will become interested in what you do.
