Consulting with corporate execs and entrepreneurs to make work not suck & to learn nonstop. Serial book author. Education transformer. Global traveler. Often collaborative. Always candid.
Marcia is an accessible genius. Pragmatic to her core, and a true visionary, Marcia leads and team plays with equal grace. She knows how to strategically apply effort (her own or her team's) to maximize the end result whether it is a newly educated, subject-loving classroom graduate, a software development peer, or a complex learning management system. I have had the privilege of working with Marcia and would work with her or invest my 401-K in a Conner-led company, without hesitation.
I began working with Marcia five years ago, when I was Director of Organizational Learning at Bear Stearns, applying her Learning Styles measures to our professional development, facilitation and coaching with investment bankers. Recently, I engaged her again for leadership development and people manager training at Towers Perrin within the Global Learning and Development Division of Human Resources. She has also advised me on projects and pointed me to invaluable resources I hadn't found anywhere else. It's been a true pleasure knowing her and working with her.
I met Marcia in connection with my research at Cadbury Schweppes on creating a learning culture within a large company. Marcia was a tremendous help and has offered insight and perspective ever since. She quickly grasps the big picture and helps highlight important elements while adding context and perspective. I'm also impressed by her keen eye for identifying talented people and bringing them together to do great work. I would welcome a chance to work with her again.
Marcia is fantastic at helping people learn how to learn more effectively. She understands the value of designing systems that people can use without cumbersome training, and what's more--she understands how to design such systems. She's also a joy to work with. I cannot recommend her highly enough.
Marcia's not only a thought leader in the learning space, she's also a catalyst for innovation. She has a magnificent talent for grasping the latest research and translating it into practical applications. Marcia also has a unique talent for connecting people and ideas to make things happen, as well as being a completely wonderful human being.
Marcia finds the essential information in a discussion, brings it out, and helps the group come to terms with the issues. Lots more, about what needs to be done, gets done when Marcia is in the room.
Marcia was awesome at developing and implementing a vision for the education services group at PeopleSoft, which directly contributed to PeopleSoft's growth back in "the day". She's dedicated her life to the study and practice of learning...which I guess is what makes her so darn smart! I'd love another opportunity to work with her again!
PeopleSoft Education Services was the most forward-looking, customer-focused and smart organization with whom I ever worked. The reason in my mind was Marcia. All you need to do is look to see where she has gone and what she has acccomplished. PeopleSoft was all the better for being a stop on her journey. And I am better for the friendship and guidance she freely shared.
Marcia is an inspiration to work with. She helped provide invaluable consultation to the Board of Directors and the Executive Management team. Marcia also provided wonderful leadership development tools for the organization's volunteers, creating a 2 day leadership workshop.
