Joe is the best sales manager I've ever had. While working for him at SpeechWorks, both with channels responsibility and later building a telco-focused team, Joe taught me more about building teams, setting tough but achieveable goals, driving people to get their best every day, as well as how to communicate expections "up" to management. The best on-the-job sales training I've ever had, and better than most of the sales training courses I've attended over the year. Joe was great to work for, challenging me and making me grow. Joe and I worked together 4 years at Pansophic Systems and 2 years at Cognos Inc. Joe recruited me to Cognos after Pansophic was acquired by CA. He was one of the best sales representatives and managers I ever met in my career. He strung together multiple million dollar deals and led the division in sales year after year. As he got promoted up each organization he built a stable of successful, intelligent and aggressive sales people. His teams always made their numbers and attended every Club trip. His hands on coaching, attention to sales process and knowledge of the deals was a guiding factor for his consistent success. Joe moved to venture start-up's where he used his skills as VP Sales to successfully launch numerous start-ups through IPO's.
