I came to know Dorothy during her tenure at Marshall Fields in 2006 where she led multi-concept operations with 100 associates spread out across a 3.1 Million Square Foot building. The sole reason for my joining the brand was Dorothy’s energy. Dorothy has a positive approach to the most challenging of situations and was the face of integrity when our team was faced with any issue.

Dorothy established standards with Human Resources to reduce turnover which reduced non-seasonal turnover significantly. She has a passion for brands that is quite rare, and I have yet to see it in anyone else in the industry.

Our sales increase was a result of narratives she created for the team from the menu I established. Her ability to coach and implement a successful rewards and incentives program resulted in an 18% increase in our final quarter together. Her strong communication skills contributed to the building of collaborative relationships to benefit the company objective, while not losing sight of the individual team member’s goals.

The most important skill I learned from Dorothy was the ability of understanding business politics which was something I never had exposure to. Both of these communication skills have benefited me greatly since that time and I have been able to coach others in my field because of her. If it were not for us being in different cities I would have no reservation to join her on any task that she would ask.
