Carlos embodies an incredible mix of high-energy, passion, and analytical perspective in his work. He is incredibly humble, but is one of the most brilliant people I have ever had the pleasure of working with. His personality is absolutely magnetic; he has the charisma it takes to make a large group passionate and motivated about achieving their goals and taking their performance to the next level in a way that is completely natural.
Carlos was always an evangelist of technology, change, and innovation--but the difference in his advocacy is that he lived, ate and breathed the vision he sold. Carlos' genuinity was the key to his successful sales whether to external or internal stakeholders, which is why he is so influential and has the support and trust of his managers, peers, and partners. Carlos constantly challenged those around him to push themselves to be better, not because they weren't doing well, but because he saw the potential each person on the team could bring.
Carlos was able to build a team in a completely undeveloped part of the organization and grow a monster team from 1 to 15 members in under a year. This level of investment was rarely given in our organization, but Carlos was strategic about when and how he allocated his resources to make his business the leanest and most profitable it could possibly be. Carlos constantly exceeded his goals and stretched the limits and expectations of both his management and his team. He was never satisfied with his success during the growth phases of our team, which is a large reason why we are now seen as a very strategic part of the Google Apps business. What Carlos has built continues to thrive and grow on the foundations of his work, as he has taken on his next professional challenge strategizing, building and executing at Motorola.
Carlos is an excellent professional. A little bit of background on my relationship with him. He used to be my mentor (at Google we call it "buddy") since my very first day at Google. Soon after, we were colleagues in the same team of three where he continued to help me get my head around the entire Enterprise business. When he then moved to the US to manage the Latin American Team, he continued to be my mentor and friend until just one year later he recruited me for this team in the US and thus became my manager for over a year.
Carlos managed to build a team (the Enterprise LATAM Team) that is a team with an extremely strong identity. We are known for being super fun and super professional at the same time. He built this team from the group up and -depending on how you count- he left it at the size of about 15-20 people. The great thing about Carlos's management style was that he managed to be respected as a manager while being considered approachable as a friend and someone who was truly interested in your personal development. It is almost unbelievable to imagine how he built this team and made it so successful as part of our overall Enterprise SMB organization.
I respect Carlos a lot for his judgement, his ability to think clearly and rationally in the face of chaos, his very diplomatic style and his ability to excite people around a common mission. Working with and for him was a great experience.
Carlos was a great manager, mentor and visionary business leader. Through Carlos' guidance, we were able to grow the Google Enterprise SMB LATAM business to a multimillion dollar organization.
He always challenged his group to reach higher levels and constantly provided feedback on our performance and career direction. He is great at coming up with creative solutions and always challenges the status quo. Never settles for less and always searches for solutions that impact the organization in a big way.
Carlos will be a great leader at any organization and I wish our paths cross again and I have the opportunity of working with him once again.
Carlos is one of the smartest and most enjoyable people I have had the pleasure of working with. In the 9 months I reported to Carlos, he multiplied the size of our team by consistently advocating the strength of the Latin American region to upper management and exceeding lofty sales goals. I constantly felt both healthily challenged and encouraged in my job, and impressed with Carlos's knack for analytics and vision for our team. I felt that Carlos entrusted me with a high level of responsibility, which allowed me to grow my professional experience exponentially in a short period of time. Carlos was a fantastic manager and friend to every member of our team, always fair and supportive, and an interesting person to learn from. I am lucky to have worked with Carlos.
I joined Carlos' Latin America Small Business team at Google's Enterprise division in May 2011. Carlos built his team from 4 to over 16 people in just 18 months, yet he continued to be a devoted listener, advocate and mentor to each individual on the team. Our team's unprecedented growth was owed directly to Carlos' astute strategic and analytic skills, agressive goal-setting, relentless hard work, and persistent advocacy to senior leadership. He's a humble, fun and lighthearted person who is extremely devoted to the growth of his team and the growth of the business.
Carlos's incredibly entrepreneurial vision led him to build and grow one of the fastest growing teams on the Google Enterprise team. Carlos grew our team from 0 to almost 20 people and grew revenue significantly quarter on quarter. Besides hitting important revenue goals, Carlos built a team culture of hard work, fun, collaboration, and passion. Carlos knows how to get the best of those he manages and genuinely cares about their development. As my manager for 1.5 years, he has pushed me to get the most out of me while still being someone I trust and really enjoy being around. Few people know how to balance being a respected manager and trusted friend and Carlos does it masterfully. Carlos is energetic, analytical, driven, hard-working, humble, and yet confident. I have learned very much from him and I owe much of my success to Carlos's guidance, vision, and mentorship. I hope to work for/with Carlos in the future and I energetically recommend him to any company/team that would be lucky enough to have him.
