I am the Founding Partner of Golden Gate Ventures, a global early-stage venture capital firm with over US$300M in assets under management and investments in 100+ technology companies across Asia and the Middle East. Over the past 15+ years, I've invested in and advised founders from pre-seed through growth stage, serving on numerous startup boards and helping build companies that have become unicorns, IPOs, and acquisitions.
Prior to venture capital, I was a two-time Silicon Valley entrepreneur. I co-founded Lefora, which was acquired in 2010, and previously built Meetro, one of the earliest location-based social networking startups. Earlier in my career I worked at IBM in product development and business consulting before moving into entrepreneurship full time.
My investment portfolio includes companies such as Stripe, Carousell, Carro, Xendit, Coda Payments, Funding Societies, TradeGecko, RedMart, 99 Group, Omise (Opn), HipVan, Lomotif, and many others. I've served as an investor, advisor, board member, or board observer across fintech, AI, marketplaces, SaaS, healthcare, climate, and consumer technology.
Beyond investing, I am the co-author of Mind the Gap: Scaling Businesses Across Cultures (Wiley), an Amazon #1 Bestseller and Straits Times Bestseller based on interviews with more than 50 global CEOs and business leaders. I regularly speak and lecture on venture capital, fundraising, leadership, and international expansion, and have been a guest lecturer at Stanford, Berkeley, and the National University of Singapore. I am also a Kauffman Fellow, Board Member of the Vietnam Private Capital Agency (VPCA), mentor with Endeavor, advisor to Harvard Business Review's Advisory Council, and serve on several startup and ecosystem advisory boards.
