Steve Markowitz is a Honolulu-based investor and entrepreneur, whose experience includes leading the successful IPO of MyPoints.com, Inc.
As co-founder, chairman and CEO, Steve charted MyPoints.com's course of early hypergrowth: zero to $64 million in revenue and zero to 16 million members.
AngelList has recognized Steve as a "notable founder" and "notable operator."
Steve is chairman of BeeStripe LLC and LifeDNA, Inc. He is vice chairman of iFirst Medical Technologies, Inc.
Steve serves as a lead mentor at Honolulu's Blue Startups and is a limited partner in its series of funds.
Previously, Steve was co-founder, chairman and CEO of pioneering loyalty marketer MyPoints.com. He led the company from inception as Intellipost Corp. in Nov. 1996 through its successful $46 million IPO (Aug. 1999), $211 million secondary offering (Feb. 2000) and beyond. Under Steve's stewardship, MyPoints.com grew to a peak market value of $2.8 billion.
Steve's early career includes experience as a securities analyst for Fidelity Investments and as a financial journalist for Dow Jones & Co., both in Tokyo. He is fluent in Japanese.
Steve holds two degrees from UC Berkeley, an MBA and a B.A. in East Asian Languages (high honors, Japanese). He has been honored by UC Berkeley's Haas School of Business with the coveted Richard H. Holton Teaching Fellowship (2009), recognizing his well-received lectures in the Entrepreneurship and New Venture Finance courses.
