Cofounder @StartupGenome, Facilitator @StartupWeekend
I can't say enough amazing things about Shane. He's been a friend, a mentor, a peer and a catalyst for as long as I've known him. His ability to listen, incorporate, and lead has set the bar for all of my personal and professional relationships from here on out. Most importantly, he embodies the level of excellence that he inherently brings out in other people. He is an immediate asset to any organization he joins.
Working directly with Shane was one of the highlights of my tenure at Kohort. We worked together almost every day for over 18 months and in that time I was incredibly impressed with his passion, organizational skills and ability to execute under tight deadlines. In addition to being a key part of our leadership team, Shane managed our customer service and marketing capabilities and under his leadership we were able to resolve open customer service tickets in record time and construct and deploy marketing campaigns with complex targeting elements incredibly fast. Shane is also great at building relationships; in spite of the fact that he was one of a handful of remote employees I never felt removed from him and I was impressed with his ability to forge close and vital relationships to all the members of our development team. Lastly I have to say that Shane has the type of followership that can only come from being a very passionate and authentic person who puts his money where his mouth is and follows through on what he says. And I've met dozens of people from all areas of startupland and big companies who have met him through his time at Kohort or StartupWeekend who share this impression of him.
Guys like Shane come around only once in a blue moon. One look in his eyes and you can see a true determination to succeed and make an impact. Beyond that, Shane has the highest of moral values. I expect Shane Reiser to be core to building the next set of massive companies and organizations.
Shane worked for me in his second job out of college. He had previously been a manager at Target. In his new role, Shane showed tremendous adaptability quickly acclimating himself to the financial industry. In his role Shane showed strong leadership skills, excellent communication skills and proved to be a self starter. As a result of Shane’s work we were successful in launching a very profitable new product.
I worked with Shane for just over a year on Startup Weekend's fledgling operations team. Shane was both a great person to work with and an essential part of Startup Weekend's early growth. He excels at injecting structure into chaos, managing a small team, and has an uncanny attention to detail without losing sight of the bigger picture. He's honest, productive, smart, and a natural people person, which more than once unlocked valuable opportunities for the organization.
It was a privilege working with Shane, and any company would be lucky to have him.
I speak for many many budding entrepreneurs in applauding Shane for having such a huge impact on the NYC startup scene. Because of his last event, my startup TRAVERSIVE is becoming a reality, I got some really great validation, and I was able to meet my future CTO. Honestly, Shane's a powerhouse for coming to NYC, crashing on someone's couch, and making NYC Startup Weekend happen. Way to go, dude!
