Ray has been involved in the privacy/information protection space for over 15 years as a subject matter expert and as an executive leader in PrivacyTech for the last 8 years.
In 2012 Ray led the Privacy and Information Security program for Target Canada as their Canada Privacy and Information Security Officer. This consisted of leading the design and implementation of strategies, policies, and procedures leading to a best in class Canada Privacy and Security program. This during heightened regulatory attention in Canada towards Target due to the 2013 credit card breach and 2012 pregnancy analytics media story. Ray represented Target in front of all 4 Canadian regulators during the 2013 credit card breach and all external events.
In 2015, with the closing of Target in Canada, Ray decided to take his years of operational privacy experience and apply it to help other companies in their privacy compliance efforts by joining the market leader in the privacy SAAS space, Nymity. Ray leveraged his operational privacy experience and business acumen to lead Nymity from a Sales, Marketing and Customer Success perspective as COO. This resulted in 4 consecutive years of explosive year over year growth and was instrumental in the eventual acquisition by TrustArc in 2019.
From 2021 to 2023, Ray led the privacy GTM transformation efforts for the Legal GRC company, Exterro, looking to breakthrough in the Privacy market. This consisted of injecting privacy DNA into the legacy E -Discovery, Forensics & Information Governance organization with the hiring and placement of experienced leaders and subject matter experts in the Sales, Marketing and Product areas. This led to revamped processes, new GTM strategies and messaging and a complete product roadmap overhaul, that resulted in explosive YOY growth and momentum.
Ray's tenure at Exterro has ended as of February 2023 and he is now exploring new opportunities where his experience in Privacy, Information Governance and Information Security from a software as a service and subject matter expert perspective can help lead or support the growth efforts of an organization looking to get to the next level.
