MenuAs an international deal broker, what is the standard commission rate?
How do I make sure to be paid commission for the next purchase made among them?
Answers
Hi
This highly depends on the industry and the country the parties are from. Each country and each industry has different rates.
Finder's fee ranges from 3% - 10%.
Real estate agent's fees range from 0.5% - 2.5%
Commodities deal broker fees can range anywhere from 2% - 20% - it all depends on the deal and the value that you're bringing to both sides. The higher the value, the higher your fee may be. Either way, I suggest you sign both sides on a 'finders fee' or "broker" agreement
I can help you draft one of these if you need.

SaaS platform with 10k niche users and a large company wants to buy a custom version. How do you model a cost structure beyond hourly?
Great question, I've dealt with this exact same issue. I've found the best way to look at this problem is by analyzing the problem you are solving for this "lighthouse." Is this something they would build anyway? If so, how much would it cost? Anything less than that is probably a win for them. Is this a nice to have, or a need to have for them? Are they price sensitive? How do they usually pay for this type of product/service? If you are able to answer these questions it should help you figure out the best pricing model (up front cost + hosting, monthly service, per user/group etc..). It sounds like you have something pretty valuable that they want. I think pricing it based on "modification" is selling yourself short. If you solve a big business pain for them, they should be willing to pay you something non-trivial. My hunch modification pricing would be trivial for you. Sounds like a great opportunity for you and your company, don't sell yourself short. You'll never get a price that you don't ask for.AL

How do I become the go-to market person for foreign startups entering my country?
Show them how you will bring them customers. Get your plan written down. Present it to them. So many people are dreamers. You'll stand out merely by having your plan written down, and taking the action of getting in front of them. Think about it from their perspective. What would they like in a local rep? What level of sales would they expect? How would they like to see you reach the marketplace? If a physical product is involved, how will you transport, store and deliver it? Are their border issues? How will you overcome these if so? Every decision maker has room for a person who has a definite plan. Don't be worried about size.JK

Are foreign companies, who are not based in the US, liable to pay any kind of tax in the US, when selling digital products via a US sales platform?
Yes, foreign companies that sell digital products via a US sales platform may be subject to certain taxes in the United States. The tax implications depend on various factors, including the type of products sold, the nature of the business, and the presence of a tax treaty between the foreign company's home country and the United States.TD

What do you understand by the term "deal crafting"?
Nothing. Business transactions should be spoken about in the plainest possible way. People using terms like this come across as lacking credibility (at least to me). Besides, a deal is never crafted, it is always negotiated. Crafting evokes a singular emphasis whereas a deal always involves two parties. I would avoid using this term and avoid anyone who describes themselves as having this abilityTW

When sending a $17 USD product international, what shipping option makes the most sense? (Cheapest) USPS 1st Class VS (Reliable) recog int'l carrier?
Hello, I am not too sure on the US postal services. But 1 option could be to find a fulfilment partner in the regions you are looking to target and ship a box of your best selling lines (via recognised carrier) and then when the sales come in fulfill locally. For example in the UK, the package you have, would cost as low as 0.65p ($1.20) to ship standard post, if you wanted it tracked then you would need to add an extra £1.20 ($2.50) Thanks SamSP
