Wow - what an interesting question. Have you considered sustainable services? Services that will endure no matter what the economy is doing or what the state of things is. Healthcare, medical services, education, financials, etc? Or really honing in on a niche — marketing/advertising when budgets are cut? Business strategy while the stock market is down? Things like that would definitely pique the interest of businesses. Define your ideal customer, one who understands that there will be a payment involved. And you have control over when you get paid and your payment structure. You can do a discovery conversation upfront for no charge, but set a time limit. Create a discovery questionnaire as an initital qualifier to make sure a potential client is a good fit for you before you and the client highly invest your time. I hope that helps!
So the types of services you offer or considering are on demand and you can charge thousands of dollars for what you have in mind. When it comes to something you can grow over time that is any business. It all depends how much time and effort your willing to put in to your business. But as you stated its over time, don't quit your day job. As your starting up this business donit in the side and on your spare time. Then as business picks up little by little you can gradually begin considering doing your business full time. What you are asking are things that I do, I am a career consultant as well as business start up and entrepreneur consultant. Like I said it all depends on the effort and time you put in specifically on the things that brings a high return like, cold calls, contacting businesses, individuals that need the service you providing. And researching and contacting the decision makers in your target market.
The first 3 you mentioned are very profitable specifically web development, then video editing and instagram marketing in that order. From most profitable to least. And last nugget... it also depends on how you position your self as an expert in that market. And that takes a bit of time, personal development, and passion but its 100% possible. In bbn other words simply do the things you have to do to get your name up there. You should be the first person people think about when they ask for your service. I hope this helps enjoy.

Idea 4: Take the things I noted in the second idea above, and turn it into a handbook. Sell that book via Amazon. Idea 5: Go on Tweetdeck. Create a column that searches for people who are using keywords like "Wordpress woocommerce issue" "Wordpress woocommerce help" "WordPress woocommerce problem". Give them your clairty.fm link and tell them you'd be happy to have 5 minute discussion to see if you could help them resolve their problem. Idea 6: Find 10 major theme development companies. Sign up to their help or support forums. Do a similar thing to what's noted above on Twitter and offer to have a quick call via clarity.fm to see if you could help. Idea 7: Go down the route of finding existing Wordpress/Woocommerce blogs. Write posts for them about specific WooCommerce issues, problem solving or project management tips. Do this with the aim of improving your inbound consulting gigs. Idea 8: Do the exact opposite of whatever those friends are telling you. Idea 9: With your skills you could easily start a dropshipping company. Better than a cover letter is to actually proactively DO something to help them. It'll show them not only that you've researched them, but you're passionate about the startup and worth bringing on. A man got a job at Square early on for just making them a marketing video on his own (back before they had one). Since you're a web designer, design a stellar 1-pager that's targeting their message to a particular niche. Something they could use on social media or something. If they're like most startups, they're not interested in reading cover letters. They're interested in passionate individuals who can add value to the organization.AS

The ideal way would be to hire the engineer while the project is still under development. You and the engineer should follow up with the outsourced partner in the process. This will give hold to the engineer and later more staff can be trained in upgrading or follow on versions of the product/service.SM

Hi there, I've built and scaled 3 management consulting businesses to $1M+ in the past 5 years. I'm a little unsure as to what your problem is. Are you wanting to help designers with their business or are you trying to hire talented designers to complete some work? For really good designers, their desire is to do quality work, with clients they like and be compensated well for it. If you have a proven methodology or process that helps them get those types of clients you'll be off the races. But, you have to communicate clearly the specific problem you address for them. So if they are a landscape designers you can say "With my program and coaching we will get you in front of architects and seen as the go-to expert who does awesome work." Does that make sense?AV

Instead of calling it "comedy", aim for humor. Humor that supports a key discovery helps to anchor that insight in the investor's mind. I've coached many pitches, and find that when presenters are nervous they try to go for an improvised laugh, thinking it will cut the tension. However, in most situations, it comes off as just that: improvised and cheesy. Which confims to the audience that the presenter is nervous and unsure. Humor an advanced communication skill which requires strategy, planning and practice. The best humor is subtle and smart. The goal is not to get a laugh, but to get a knowing smile.DG
