In my mind, private label and building your own brand/nich products is the way to scale on Amazon.
Having managed and dealt with my own and clients' Amazon businesses, I would have to say that the one key technique is to have a solid foundation.
A solid foundation has the following characteristics:
1) High-quality products that you would personally use. If you don't believe in your own products, then don't expect shoppers to buy them. Simple.
2) A great product title with main keywords, features, and benefits that make the sentence flow. You don't want to just throw in a bunch of keywords or use a one liner as your product title.
3) Using great product images will help shoppers make a purchasing decision. The only sense shoppers have is Sight so you need to bring other senses such as smell, touch, sound, and taste to life for an unforgettable experience.
Just like yourself, shoppers want to know what exactly they are getting, the more details your images portrait, the better it is for shoppers to decide.
4) Great copywriting for your product description makes a huge difference as you want to hit shoppers' pain point with a thought provoking question, then provide a generic solution and your solution as well. Be sure to include product benefits, scarcity, and also call-to-action in your description as well.
5) Running Amazon ads and other marketing strategies (i.e. giveaways, JVs, facebook ads, quiz etc). What better way to do so than offering great discounts to shoppers making the offer irresistible!
The above are some of the main techniques to build a successful Amazon FBA business. Keep in mind that if you care about your customers more than your competitors, you will always win!
Best of success selling on Amazon!

1) Differentiate your product from the beginning.
Many new sellers start with RA (retail arbitrage), OA (online arbitrage) or Wholesale before to switch to PL (private label) just to find out 2 years later that they haven't actually built anything for themselves.
They didn't build a brand and don't have their own product.
Even with the PL, it's just another label on someone else's product. Very soon the market becomes overcrowded and they have to look for the next big opportunity.
You spend all that time and effort to find, source and ship the products and it's a waste.
2) Start big.
Imagine how much inventory you have to rotate if trying to scale your PL business from $1000 to $50K.
It will take a while.
Start big by crowdfunding your product modification.
Kickstarter or Indiegogo can get you to the next level in a matter of months while further testing your ideas.
3) Multichannel.
Start selling at Walmart, Sears, retail, eBay and so on instead of sourcing your next product.
It's much faster to scale your business when you already have something working, instead of trying to find your next product.
Once you've exhausted all your channel, then go add more related product to what you already sell.
I hope this helps and good luck with your startup.

Would love advice on book arbitrage and best practices?
Book arbitrage can be a great way to make extra income with Amazon FBA but it's not for everybody. While I don't have specific experience with the program you posted, I looked at the web page to see what they are all about. First, the link opened 10 identical browser tabs which is pretty suspect and feels spammy. Their program is specifically geared to finding cheap books on Amazon that have few or no FBA sellers. You buy the books and relist them as an FBA seller at a higher price then pocket the difference. I don't have any experience with this type of arbitrage so I can't say if it's a profitable method. If you're just starting out, I would go to places like library book sales and Goodwill to find cheap books. There is a big movement right now for college students to find alternative sources for textbooks since they can be extremely expensive. This is an excellent opportunity to find cheap textbooks locally and sell them on Amazon. You make money and the buyer saves money vs. buying from a bookstore. If you're considering buying this program, I would strongly recommend doing more research as there is a wealth of free information out there on book arbitrage.NC

What are the best strategies for expanding an Amazon brand to other markets and get brick and mortar stores to stock our product?
This is a common challenge for e-commerce brands. Amazon sales can quickly grow and account for an excessive percentage of total revenue leading to concentration risk. So diversifying your revenue sources is important but not always easy to accomplish. If you're operating your own e-commerce website, Google will be your main source of traffic and sales. A combination of effective PPC advertising and SEO is essential to generate substantial revenue to your store. On the SEO side, the best way to growth hack your way to page 1 of google is co-marketing. Contact other established businesses that offer products commonly paired with yours, but not competitors. For example if you sell grill cleaner, contact grill manufactures. Suggest a co-marketing deal where you post a blog article with backlink to their site, and vice-versa. This will allow you to quickly grow your backlink profile with links and traffic coming from relevant sites. Your store will begin rising in the Google search results and you'll see an increase in sales. You'll also start getting the attention of distributors who will be essential to getting your product in B&M stores! Best of luck!BF

How to change item info if it wasn't created by you on Amazon?
List your item against the wrong UPC code. This provided Amazon with all the correct information, including the correct photo. Then go back and mark your inventory at zero.. keep an eye on this as you don't want to sell the item as you might not have the wrong item to ship. Then email Amazon with the ASIN number and explain that you have piggybacked on the listing based on the UPC code but the detail page reflects the wrong item. Let them know that you have removed your inventory till this can be worked out. I included photos to show the UPC for the correct item. Ask Amazon to cleave the listing so you can list your item. Amazon cleaved the ASIN. I had never heard that term. What Amazon did was split the listings and assigned a new ASIN to the listing I started. This allowed both listings for one UPC code while Amazon looking into the questionable listing. You have to have a UPC code to list an item... or you need an exception from Amazon. You can't take an item that has a UPC code and add a non-UPC code item as a variation. The photos are slower than the text. When starting a new listing, the photos don't even start to be loaded until you have completed the listing. Just the way Amazon's system works.LS

Best way to sell stock of disposable face masks coronvirus/covid19
Not my exact area of expertise but we went through something similar here in Asia where sellers rushed to clear stock before the government stepped in with price and export controls. If you have the logistics set up already then you could quickly sell them on: * Facebook marketplace. * eBay. * Amazon yes, but run the risk of them closing down your account. * Local classifieds and Craigslist. * Reddit though just be wary of each subreddit's advertising policies. As for how to package them, the most popular configurations I have seen here are 5-packs or 10-packs as they need to be changed on a regular basis.AL
