There are countless competitors already to Teespring, what they do is not new nor did they invent a new way of printing for fundraisers.
I think what you're suggesting will actually hinder you. The finite time limit creates scarcity and exclusivity. If you are a member of a group or organization that wants to produce wares as a fundraiser, it is in your best interest to have a time limit. Having this open-ended will result in a lot of people putting it off until "they have time" -- which is never.
With this approach, you are intentionally undercutting your own growth.
Your best bet would be to capitalize on #2 and beat everyone else in the speed of service or find other services (like Teespring) to license your process to.
I think you're looking at this the wrong way. Your suggesting building a competitor for Teespring.com and focusing the features that Teespring doesn't have (or limits) with the assumption that those features are what is stopping Teespring's growth. What you should rather focus on is figuring out what is the most frustrating part of using a service like Teespring as seen by existing users and see if solving that problem has value. Building a pure copy with some added features is probably not a good idea.

If you believe in your idea, it may mean sacrificing school? If you're not willing to risk that, then why should an investor risk his capital on you? It just shows your conviction. Not everyone is suppose to be an entrepreneur. If you are, you'll need to step up and take action. P.S. I started when I was 17. Failed. Tried again at 19. Failed. Kept at it till I was 24. Won. Again at 29. Won. Again at 31. Still going (= Clarity). Just start.DM

What an awesome question! Businesses are running into this issue more frequently that ever, good news is, it can be done. Having worked on projects with oDesk, Fox Television and Wikipedia and having a very very small staff, it's certainly possible. Here's how I say it in our pitches to larger organizations: "Tractive West provides tailored video production services to organizations of all sizes. We have developed a distributed workflow using the latest digital tools. We leverage our small creative and management team with a world wide network of creative professionals, that means we can rapidly scale to meet the demands of any project while keeping our infrastructure and overhead lightweight and sustainable." Why don't small business retailers have e-commerce stores on their websites? How do I show small business owners the benefits of e-commerce?
I live in Brooklyn, NY, which is a really fertile ground for small business retailers. My experience speaking with a lot of the shop owners is that they simply don't have the resources to maintain an online presence. Just keeping the brick and mortar operation running consumes most, if not all of their time, especially if the are also creating and producing their own products. For many that I do see take a shot at e-commerce retailing, they may get Shopify/Squarespace site set-up, then just run out of steam to keep it going. One innovative, in-between approach that I've seen one of my favorite shops take, is to actually focus on using a single social media channel, Instagram, and maintain an e-commerce function through it.
