Your business model seems to be a SAAS model (software as a service). The best way to make them forget about your company size is to provide them with a working free trial offer of your software and to get them to input as much of their own data into it so they will think twice before switching to another provider. Along the lines of Devon's feedback - who specifically said they can't sign a contract with a small company? The legal department? What is the position of the department that will actually benefit from your software?
One other option - you might consider code escrow as a way to reassure them they have a bail out position if you close up shop.
If it's a cloud service, are you running on your own infrastructure, or a third party like AWS? This can help provide some reassurance and also provides ways to standardize the code that you might leave them in escrow.
You need one advocate on the inside who can help you, who enjoys the benefit of your solution and doesn't just see the risk.

First off –congrats on the opportunity. That you’ve found a great fit for your software is wonderful news.
Based on my experience negotiating contracts with companies of all sizes, particularly for procurement organizations, I have some suggestions -
Has the potential customer been able to share with you why they aren’t able to sign a contract with a small company? Beyond there being a ‘policy’, what concerns do they have, and why do they have them? Asking questions to uncover the specific concerns will help you determine if there’s a feature or term in the contract that you can adjust to address the issue. (Some variables that can pop up as concerns are insurance coverage, financial stability so that you'll be around to support them long-term, contingency plans/systems, or adequate bandwidth to meet their needs for customer service/tech support)
I’d recommend exploring this path a bit more with the potential customer before bringing a 3rd party into the mix.
If the client’s concerns can’t be addressed successfully in a negotiation of the contract terms, bringing in another party to act as an agent or distributor is an option.
Some thoughts on what to look for in that relationship:
- establishing a contract between yourself and the agent (independently of the client),
- financial arrangements related to fees/% due to the agent (they may not be doing any development, but facilitating the deal is a service that they’ll likely require payment for),
- limitations on the relationship with the agent (so that it’s for this specific client/product/time period. This way, as your company grows, you’re not limited by that structure).

Find out what about your company structure is giving them concerns. Is it your business type? Do you not have enough insurance? Are they asking to look at your financials? Its not uncommon, in big partnership cases that hinge on the balance sheet, to have an angel provide a short-term investment to shore everything up (although ideally that will happen before you share the data with your prospective partner) - I know that I've done that before.
If people at the other company really want the deal to happen, it will happen. If you're unsure to exactly what the blocker is, your best bet is probably to ask whoever your internal advocate is directly. Without that information you're likely to spend a lot of effort in solving the wrong problem.

Invest it in yourself and find a great job that will pay the bills while you work on your own venture. Whether that means buying new work-appropriate clothes, books in your profession, a new certification or even interview coaching is up to you. I'd find a company that is emerging in an industry that you find interesting and go after working for that company. Good luck!JM

What should we do if our users are expecting a free service, but we are unable to meet the cost?
They expect it to be a free service because there are other free services that do something similar. In order to get income you can either 1) Get people to understand that your product is substantially better (for their actual needs) than the free competition. You will then be able to charge money for your service. 2) Find out how your free competition is getting income and copy them (ads?) If you do in fact have features that are better than the free competition, I would recommend making two versions of your service: A) A free version which has basic features that are shared with the free competition B) A paid version which also has the 'pro' features which your free competition does not have. This could for instance be an ability to better customize the types of alerts you can get, or change the sound of audio alerts, etc. C) (optional) It will also help you get sign ups for your paid service if you add a third option which is a little more expensive than option 'B'. Simply the presence of a more expensive option will make people see option 'B' as a better deal, than if there was no more expensive option 'C' (it's a psychological thing). Option 'C' should be everything you get with 'B', but also comes with something extra. This something extra could for instance be an email that the user gets once a week summarizing 4 - 5 news stories about the stock market, or anything else you can think of. In the end though, this is not about 'tricking' anyone into paying for a product they don't want, it's about helping them make the decision to get something they will be happy with. In other words, your product (option 'B') should be fairly priced for the value they will get out of it. Keep in mind, that even if your product doesn't have any obvious abilities that your free competition has, if you package your product in a more easy to access, and pleasing to use way (i.e. make signing up easier, make the UI more intuitive and pleasing to look at, etc), many people might be willing to pay for that too, even though you might not see it as a feature.LV

How can entrepreneurs deal with information overload?
Keep your head down and work on your own project. Stop being a spectator to what other people are up to. Ignore all the noise. Start unsubscribing from mailing lists. Delete your memberships at social media platforms, or at least stop logging in. Stop paying attention to Twitter feeds. Treat them like TV channels. Watching TV and following tweets is not entrepreneurship! Want to read? Read a book. Divide your email into critical and non-critical inboxes. Make yourself a rule not to check the optional inbox except on Friday evenings between 4 and 9 p.m. With any luck, you'll be enjoying life too much to bother. Friday nights are a good laboratory for testing those priorities. Force your inbox and twitter feeds to compete for attention with your significant other, and see who wins! Soon you'll recognize how unimportant that stuff is. Information overload is an excuse addicts make for their addiction. It's akin to compulsive rubbish hoarding or an all-day TV binge. Endlessly following the latest startups is no different from endlessly following celebrity gossip. Just because the people you read about are accomplishing things does not mean you are. If you have any ambition, then you can create something while ignoring what other people are doing and saying. A novelist or an inventor will keep busy on their own work to an almost hermit-like extent. If 100 people started throwing 100 objects toward you simultaneously in a hopelessly mismatched game of dodge ball, why would you be under any obligation to catch them all? Stop paying attention. Stop following. Lead! Do something!JP
