MenuWhat is the most effective way to store emails prelaunch?
My company is launching over the summer and we are beginning to accumulate emails of potential users. When the time is right I plan on using hubspot for all my email marketing needs but until then I need a place to store the emails we have already collected.

My first question is, how did you get these email addresses? If they physically entered them, simply store them in an encrypted spreadsheet or database for importing into a platform.
Of course, the best method is utilizing an email service to initially collect those addresses.
I've been working in email marketing for over 10 years, and list "health" is definitely one of the big challenges of email marketing.
Look for a service provider to help you both store, as well as collect emails. Depending on the site of the list you've collected so far, you might find a service provider like MailChimp or AWeber that can be very affordable.
Also, you may want to consider ways to keep these potential customers "warmed up" by launching a tease engagement campaign, giving early subscribers value via emails, and letting them know what they can expect once you launch. This will also give you a solid engagement metric on which to build forecasts once you launch.
If someone signs up to learn more, but doesn't hear from you for months, you are increasing the likelihood that person might have forgotten, switched email accounts, or may no longer be interested.
This is a little more than what you asked, but I thought relevant. Check out this article for related insights.

Feel free to schedule a follow up call and I'd be glad to dig in deeper and provide you with actionable suggestions.
What does "when the time is right" mean? There will never be a "right" time. Right now is a great time though.
Why don't you immediately use an e-mail list service such as one of the free plans from mailchimp or madmimi to store the emails? That way you'll be able to keep in touch with people easier before the launch of your product. Both of the mentioned services allow you to store 2,000+ emails and if you go over that amount the monthly fees are fair.

How can I go about using social media outlets to attract new clients?
Hello, great question here. First of all you should understand that there is no 1 way and depending on who your audience is and what you sell the answer will definitely vary. A short answer however would be - engagement. Forget about likes and follows and shares are engagement, if you want to be a successful marketer you need to see engagement as conversations. The more conversations you can build around products the more you can rely on them to follow links or follow up on a request when you do make one. With that said, social media updates should be about what your followers want to see - depending on the social media - try to avoid being too pitchy on each post. My name is Humberto Valle, I have been a strategist for about 10 years now and have helped countless of entrepreneurs and businesses thrive through creative competitive strategy and marketing and I'm the co-founder of Unthink.Me. How do I get people to subscribe to my email newsletter?
I would seriously consider launching a blog and posting content of the same type to the blog, in abundance. Then add a popup box to the blog to collect email addresses. Post daily blog posts about topics related to your blog and your newsletter. If you do this consistently, over time, you will build up traffic to your blog and also get people entering their email into your popup. This is the free way to do it...EW

What is Drip Marketing? I'm looking for case studies or real life examples of how effective it is a strategy for user retention.
Drip marketing (aka. drip emails, or lead nurturing) is often used by modern marketers to nurture their leads through the sales funnel. As others have mentioned the idea is to gain brand awareness and influence buyers through a regular series of targeted and relevant content or offers. Typically for top of the funnel activities you might offer something like a general whitepaper or something which describes the overall business problems that your prospects might be feeling. From there you can use a marketing automation tool to send through additional material or reminders periodically depending on how your prospects engage with you. The idea at the end of the day is to reduce that amount of direct time that a sales rep spends closing any deal by ensuring that leads have shown sufficient buying signals and are ready to purchase.SH

What is the industry average conversion rate for cold emailing?
Cold emailing is just as bad for you and the recipient. Even if you have the perfect list, the attempt to sell in a cold email is rarely going to be effective. You're better off curating the list to the top prospects, find a mutual connection on LinkedIn or even just cold-invite them on LinkedIn,. Worst case scenario, send a 'permission pass' email where you simply gauge interest and let them know you won't be emailing them again if there's no interest. Keep it very short, non-commercial with just solid information/links to web, and an easy to reply yes/no answer.BI
