Margaret is that rare designer who brings both strong analytical and technical abilities AND wonderfully fresh creative talent to any project you can throw at her. She's a joy to work work--she's responsive, gets along with EVERYONE, and has a delightful sense of humor. She's also hard working and meets commitments; she met even crushing deadlines.
We would have hired her in a heartbeat; too bad for us she wanted to maintain her freelance life...but good fortune for her future clients.
If you have a website and need user experience and design expertise - you're in luck. Get going immediately to attempt to nab Margaret. Good luck.
Margaret understands what interfaces work for users. She consistently and actively stays on top of the latest (and most importantly) the best design models and ideas out there. She is passionate about creating an easy, right-tone experience. Our engineers valued her for her excellent designs and loved her for her CSS and HTML. Always thoughtful, so so intelligent, and unusually easy and enjoyable to work with.
Our only complaint was that there weren't two of her.
Working with Margaret was an absolute pleasure. Her combination of deep discipline knowledge, commitment to excellence, and willingness to collaborate was critical in our delivery of sophisticated, strategic work to C-level clients. I look forward to our next opportunity to work together.
Highly, highly recommend the wonderful Ms. Shear! We worked together on Zinio's Content Builder last year, and Margaret not only served as lead UX designer but also handled the visual design. She is a first-rate creative, and her amazing eye for design enabled her to play a dual role, making the project incredibly efficient. And, she's not just talented, but also super responsible and self-directed ... and as others have mentioned, a lovely person to be around, to boot. Luckily Hot has a NY office, so we may get to work together again!
Margaret and I worked together as designers at Adaptive Path. She was really fantastic to work with and I'd jump at the chance to be on a team with her again any time.
On top of being a really great designer, Margaret brings a combination of systematic thinking and detail orientedness that's rare to find. I can recall moments of chaos and uncertainty where Margaret's "let's figure this out" attitude quelled the madness and shaped the next step of the design work.
She's also just really fun and pleasant to work with. If you're going to be stuck in a project room working side by side with someone on an intense design project, you couldn't ask for a better partner.
Margaret sees the business problem and customer problem and can fuse them together in creative interaction design magic. It's fun to watch and fun to work with her. She's got far more skills in tech and know-how than your typical experience designer, and a sharp and witty intellect to go along with it.
Margaret is one of my favorite people to work with. I've both hired her directly and worked side by side on various projects. She is a rock solid part of a multidisciplinary team, working well with others across areas of expertise. And the best part…her work always exceed expectations with polished, beautiful and well thought out deliverables. Would go out of my way to work with her again.
Margaret was a joy to work with. She has great design instincts, collaborates well, and her CSS skills are top-notch. I highly recommend her and hope to be able to make use of her talents again in the future.
