David is a unique person who gets the big picture, and understands both the science and art of marketing in a way that breaks through the noise of the market. His work at Apperian on creating a new brand and image was transformative. David is a great person to work with and I'm truly gratified that we had the opportunity to spend time together.
Source: LinkedIn Cimarron Buser Jul 17, 2013Since joining Apperian, David has single-handedly revitalized our brand image. Making an enterprise-focused company look "cool" is no easy feat, but that's exactly what David pulled off. David is also one of the calmest, focused marketers i've ever worked with, at the same time conveying a sense of excitement that never failed to inspire the company. David has a great personality, going out of his way to get to know his colleagues in all departments. It's rare to find someone who has such a complete understanding of the startup scene and the importance of brand image - his impact on crafting the outward face of Apperian will be felt for years to come.
Source: LinkedIn Jeremy Debate Jul 17, 2013David is our Marketing Advisor at Treehouse and he's been an invaluable source of knowledge and help. I have a twice-monthly Skype chat where I bounce ideas off him and ask questions and it's been tremendously valuable.
He really understands marketing in the new social age, in addition to bread-and-butter online marketing.
I'd highly recommend him to anyone who needs a very intelligent, friendly and hard working CMO or above.
Source: LinkedIn Ryan Carson Jul 17, 2013David has an exceptional customer focus. He is driven to create engaging places in the market for customers to interact. I've always admired how well he balances an artistic and creative approach with strong data driven analysis. It's a pleasure watching the process unfold.
Source: LinkedIn Alan Murray Jul 17, 2013David is an infectious motivator. While he is a deft marketer, it is his ability to bring you into what he's excited about, and energize everyone — colleagues, directors and subordinates — to attain a common goal that makes him stand apart from the crowd. David's energy and enthusiasm is genuine, and his natural knack for being able to relate across levels and functions makes him an asset to any organization. When David is passionate and believes in the mission he has taken on, it is tough to beat his focus.
Source: LinkedIn Michael Ninness Jul 17, 2013David is open, tells it like it is, takes risks when potential rewards justify it and is skilled at building strong teams. I loved working with him, because he hires really well, then empowers his people. Some of the best co-workers I've ever had, are people that David hired.
Source: LinkedIn Scott Barnett Jul 17, 2013David is wonderful to work with and helped create an incredibly positive and productive culture at Citrix Online. Under his leadership we launched and built major brands such as GoToMeeting, outperforming the market and creating some of the most visited sites on the web.
Source: LinkedIn Katie Davis Jul 17, 2013I consider David to be one of the most dynamic and innovative leaders in the game. In addition to being one of the kindest people I've known, he has an enormous amount of integrity in how he deals with people. During my first year @ COL, he took the time to sit with me and map out my career path both in the company and long-term. This shows that not only is he a great leader with superior Marketing knowledge, he also cares for each of his employees. I would welcome the opportunity to work for or with David again.
Source: LinkedIn Janelle Laguette-Skei Jul 17, 2013After 20 years in direct response, I didn't think there was anything else to learn. Then I worked with David. From print to broadcast, David's strategic, integrated approach was key to increasing lead acquisition and conversion rates at Citrix Online. I've since taken his "branded direct response" approach to other companies, which they've embraced wholeheartedly. I'm hoping David opens his own shop one day, so I can work with him again.
Source: LinkedIn Robert Tuffly Jul 17, 2013I look to David to keep me up to date on the world of online acquisition (from search to social media) and he never disappoints. He's always curious about how to improve, and takes to the latest trends with interest. However, his focus on impact never waivers, and his strategies directly translate to bottom line performance. In the end it's David's willingness to help others succeed coupled with his expertise that makes him a great person to have as a colleague.
