Social Sharing Lockers. So basically user has to share on either Twitter / Facebook to read the content on the website. It works brilliantly if you can execute it properly.
Some of the best Affiliate Networks for Mobile I know of are the following:
Mobpartner.com MotiveInteractive.com Glispa.com
These affiliate networks carry non gaming and gaming apps. If you have any questions regarding Pay Per Install just shoot me a message.
I personally don't think SEO is dying it's just evolving. Before SEO was all about back link building but now social sharing takes a huge consideration in it.
Here are some Blogs & Websites to start off with:
- Hubspot - Quicksprout - Moz - Copyblogger - Search Engine Land
Also the free course at QuickSprout "Double your Traffic in 30 Days" is a great place to start off and also read the following post on QuickSprout: http://www.quicksprout.com/2013/02/07/how-i-grew-quick-sprout-from-121311-to-244923-readers-in-30-days/
Cold emailing doesn't work that well. If you can't get an intro to someone, a neat trick is to start using social media to communicate with them. Use twitter to reply back to one of their tweets etc. Once you get their attention then you can gradually shift it over to email/coffee etc.
I actually wrote a blog post last year on "81 Different ways to promote your Mobile App / Games" the link is http://blog.tapgage.com/2012/10/81-different-ways-to-promote-your-mobile-app-game/. Hopefully it helps. I will be releasing another updated version of this post very soon.
One of the best and most popular script used is Vbulletin. Most of the reputable forums are powered by Vbulletin. The second recommendation I'd have is phpBB. It is absolutely free and open sourced versus Vbulletin which is licence based. I have used both and had no problems with either of them. If you can fork out some money I'd suggest going with Vbulletin.
Here is a list of the biggest internet forums http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Internet_forums. You can see most of them are powered by Vbulletin and the second most popular script is phpBB.
Regarding fresh look you can simply hire someone or buy a Template.
I honestly have tried both and have to say both of them are equally as good. It boils down to personal preference. In the past few months I have helped a few friends set up their shopping carts and went with Shopify because their Affiliate commission.
If you do decide to go with Shopify be sure to check out their 4th Build a business competition http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zZciwQ6ZlsY
The awesome feeling you get when people tell you it can't be done and you prove them wrong.
How to get more customers:
- By providing excellent service to your current clients so they can refer you more business. There is no better marketing than word of mouth.
- Make sure business is added to Google Local Business listing.
- Online Classifieds like Craigslist & Kijiji
- Make sure you have a Website
- Search Engine Optimization (Ranking for Keywords)
- Advertising in Local Newspapers
- Google Adwords targeting Keywords
- Use Social Media. Example go on Search.Twitter.com and search for people looking for Massage Therapy in your city then tweet them out.
Your first instinct is what I would go with as well. As an ex affiliate marketer I can say is that in the beginning of a campaign you are going to lose money most of the time. But in return you are getting all this valuable data of where your campaign is converting and where your campaign is not converting. With that data you make your campaign profitable. You can go with the other way by adding a few individual apps but I just see that as time consuming where you can test out all the traffic right off the bat in the beginning.
