Dr Donald Voltz is a board-certified anesthesiologist, researcher, medical educator, and entrepreneur. With over 15 year experience in healthcare, Dr Voltz has been involved with many facets of medicine. He has performed basic science and clinical research and has experience in the translation of ideas into viable medical systems and devices. He has been involved in the development of medical devices and currently holds many patents pertaining to medical devices and their application in the clinical arena. Through his own medical device development as well as his consultation with industry, he has experience in the FDA approval process for medical devices, the IRB process for the development and implementation of clinical research products, and with the federally supported SBIT/STTR grant application process. His entrepreneurial experience includes co-founding multiple medically focused ventures and is actively involved in the development of a healthcare technology venture working to improve patient care, healthcare provider productivity, and bridge the gaps that exist in electronic medical records.
In addition to his clinical expertise, Dr Voltz has held positions in clinical operations, quality improvement and healthcare information technology development and implementation. He has a strong passion for teaching and is currently involved in teaching principles of clinical anesthesiology at Case Western Reserve University where he holds an assistant professorship position. He is also maintains the same title at Northeast Ohio Medical University (NEOMED). He is currently working to develop a course on healthcare entrepreneurship for professionals in the healthcare industry. In addition to these responsibilities, he actively participates in healthcare related consultation.
Dr Voltz received his undergraduate and medical school training at the University of Wisconsin. He completed post-medical school training in surgery and anesthesiology at University Hospitals of Cleveland and Case Western Reserve University. Following his formal medical training, he has participated in numerous healthcare, leadership, computer science and business development with a focus on entrepreneurship. He has also been working with technology and is competent in numerous programming and database systems. Through his experience in healthcare education, he has gained some expertise in the development of higher education courseware and the delivery of these classes both in person and online. He has been invited to speak at numerous local and national medical conferences on clinical, healthcare technology and healthcare management topics.
