No one likes to be sold, but almost everyone likes to buy. Do that - help people buy. There is no such thing as Sales Cycle - it's a Buying Cycle. And there are as many buying cycles as there are buyers. But behind every deal stands a human. And usually more than one. So the keys in getting a deal remain the same once you learn how humans make decisions.

Being successful at software sales to SMBs and larger accounts at my current job, I also train our own sales people and help them fill their gaps.
