What is the ratio of read to write? You can for sure store the files on S3 and front end with cloudfront CDN. So if same files are being accessed multiple times your bandwidth costs are lower. Your application uploads files to S3 instead of NFS file server. You serve the files from cloudfront cdn with s3 as backend.
