MenuWhat is the best approach to get distribution(authorized reselling) approval from big brands?
Answers
Great questions. Getting your foot in the door with large brands is usually not an easy task. You can try to find a link to a partnership page on their website and fill out the necessary information, but that is not always fruitful. I would try that as a start.
From there, you can look up the company on Linkedin and try to find people that work for that company in roles that could be applicable. Reach out to those people and try to connect with them. If they are not the right resource, they could give you the information to get your foot in the door.
Once you have a foot in the door, you need to make sure that you know your business like the back of your hand. Make sure your financials are in order, create financial reports, be prepared to show your business plan, your pitch deck, your previous successes, and a distinct plan on how you are planning to partner with the brand.
If you want to talk in more detail, please reach out to me, would love to discuss in detail and plan further.
Thank you,
Andrew
You can write a letter to the brand manager & apply for approval to sell the items of their brand.

What terms re-sellers use for selling SaaS?
A reseller typically purchases the SaaS at a discounted price and bill their client directly. I've seen reseller discounts range between 10% and 50%. The discount should be competitive with your industry, and allow a reasonable ROI for resellers. The reseller discount is typically for the life of the user otherwise expect resellers to offer their clients a competitor's SaaS. An affiliate or partner program that pays a commission for referring clients creates a direct relationship between your company and the users. In these types of programs, your commission could be a one-time payout upon referral, a recurring % of sale for the first year, or a recurring % of sale for the life of the client.MK

How can I go about getting the beauty products from my new cosmetic line into stores?
You're entering a highly competitive market. Aside from creating info sheets, images and video that show why your products are better than others, you will likely need to drum up interest online in advance. Keep in mind that store shelves are most always full, so to carry a new product they have to decrease the space allotted to another company. By generating true interest first, you can highlight that the product already sells. Also, don't forget to provide samples to bloggers, writers and other appropriate publications so they can review the products. That's a big step in kicking off a true word-of-mouth campaign.PH

What are some great ways to efficiently promote a Hosting Reseller service website?
It's a crowded market, simply because it's easy to get signed up as an affiliate like you did, or through many other services with white label offerings. Most knowledgeable buyers are going to be going straight to a provider themselves, so you are looking at a less educated buyer. As you likely have found, the AdWords around a space like that are expensive and crowded. I left this business about 5 years ago because of these issues, largely the saturation of folks just like yourself who were all entering on these types of deals. My best advice would be niche services where you sell your hosting "specifically" for a type of professional group who maybe isn't always the most technical. An example might be, "We only host dentist websites." Now that's not a suggestion, because I'm sure that's also saturated, but maybe there is a group you can target in that way. I'd be happy to brainstorm with you about options, with the caveat that you are in a tough space.DL

If my COGS is $25/item and suggested retail is $100 what is a reasonable discount to offer resellers?
The best answer depends largely on your product and the available market. I have been a Value-Added Reseller and have sold products and services through VAR's. I helped one of my current clients set up their reseller and affiliate program. If your product can, in fact, be sold to your target market for $100. And, if your COG's before commissions is $25, that leaves you $75 for operating revenue. Let's break that down. A reseller will need to be paid commensurate with the amount of work involved in selling your product. If the product needs to be purchased in advance and, therefore, stored by the reseller, that also is a factor. If your product can be sold by more of an affiliate marketer without inventory and with little effort except to drive traffic to their site, that is a different situation. There is no easy answer with such little information. But, as a general rule of thumb, a reseller may want 35-50% of the retail sale. That amount also is included in your top line COG. Let's say that you settle for 50% commission to your sales channel. At $100 retail, that leaves you $25 operating revenue after deducting your above mentioned $25 COG. Can you run your company on a gross operating revenue of $25? Sounds like a slim budget. I'd love to know more about your product so I can give you more accurate and specific advice.
