MenuHow do I market my consulting line to gain traffic?
What are some pointers on how to increase the amount of people I can help?
Answers
- You must first understand that you are a brand(work on your personal branding so you can be desirable)
- Boost your social media profile and update your LinkedIn. Make sure the posts you share on social media are captivating and good enough for people to repost. You can also do a paid advert for your post that has a lot of engagements. (Maximise your social media)
- Narrow down on the type of clients you want to attract(youths? Adults? Middle aged people?), think of how to get in touch with them, attend events where you can network and sell yourself.
- Send direct emails to the contacts you have. Cherish those business cards, don’t be ashamed to get contacts, give cold calls too.
Ayomiku makes some good points. However, don't underestimate the power of building your own website to attract new customers. It's the one place you can be sure that you can arrange the information the way you want it.
Maybe you're not ready for a website, though. In that case, focus on places you can make connections such as LinkedIn (this is a very good place for business to business connections) and even here on Clarity. Clarity is free to join, and pretty easy to set up.
Once you get some clients, ask them to review you on sites that you have joined, or post it to your website if you have one. Showing that people have done business with you and are satisfied can make a huge difference in the number of new people who want to do business with you.
Whatever you do, focus on how you can help someone. They'll be more likely to do business with you than if you try pushy sales tactics.
I believe that the best way to spread the word about your consulting line keeping covid-19 rules in mind would be internet marketing. There are five P’s of the internet marketing which are product, people, price, promotion, and place. Sit with you team and discuss these out in details. For example, let us take product. What are the questions that you can raise? Well, you can discuss the functionality of your product, appearance of your product, quality, packaging, brand, warranty, and service of your product through the internet. This way people will come to know about your business and connect with you and buy your product which in this case is consulting.

One great way to increase traffic to your business is to invest in advertising. Facebook Ads, when consistent and done right, can increase your profits in a big way and allow for you to gain the recognition you're looking for to gain that traffic. If you can, I'd start here and figure out your target audience to ensure your ad speaks directly to that person. If you're not sure about your target audience definitely start there to determine the type of messaging your ad needs.
I hope this helps!

What should my consulting rates be as a freelance developer who can also do SEO, social media optimization and other marketing services?
Pricing for different tasks that require the same amount of time from you tells the Customer (and your subconscious) that you're working at a 5 on task x, but working at a 9 on task y simply because it costs/earns more. That seems to be a disconnect. Your time is your most precious asset, and I would charge for it whatever you're doing. If you build a site, and they are happy with your dev fee, but feel like you should charge less for SEO, simply let them find another SEO guy. That's their choice, but YOU are worth $xx.xx, no matter what you're doing. Also, in general, take whatever you're charging and add 10% to it. If you're still busy, add another 10%. Let the demand level determine how much work you do, and at what cost.SL

How can small consultancies close BIG companies as clients?
Hello, I've been working in one of the biggest agencies in the world before and now I own a small digital agency. I've found a way to close big clients really easily by doing the following: Connecting with them directly and identifying their biggest pain points. Then you need to showcase that you understand them (mainly with content marketing and talking with them) and you know how to deal with that and making an offer. The first thing I do is I find my niche, the people I want to work with. I connect with them and I ask them for an interview. During that interview I don't sell them anything, I just want to learn more about their business, what are their current issues, challanges, etc. I'm looking for the biggest pain that I know how to solve. If I identify one, I ask them if they want to receive free content on that topic. When they say yes, I put it in my database. Then I start releasing some great content for them on the topic. Then at some point a make a sale by telling them we're growing and we have a few spots open for new clients. I make them fight to become one. I used this system to talk to and close Fortune 500 and Inc 5000 companies so if you're interested to learn more, feel free to schedule a call. I'd love to share my ideals & methodology with you.MZ

Can Canadian consultants work as independent contractors in the states without a work permit?
I'm not an immigration attorney, but I have made trips to Canada to find clients, and this is my understanding of the laws. If you are a Canadian citizen or permanent resident, you do not need a visa to come to the United States as long as you will not actually be working and receiving payment from U.S. businesses or employers while in the U.S. For example, you can visit the U.S. to attend trade shows, meetings, conferences, etc. without a visa. Here's a publication from the U.S. State Department that may help: http://travel.state.gov/content/dam/visas/BusinessVisa%20Purpose%20Listings%20March%202014%20flier.pdfKH

What is the best way to get more consulting clients?
Here are some ways to get more customers: 1. Start by reaching out to your friends who own businesses and ask to doncome consulting work for them in exchange for case studies. You need to show credibility to give people a reason to trust you and work with you. 2. Create content. Either document your journey as a consultant or create a blog/vlog that will give you the ability to demonstrate your expertise. 3. Once you have content to work with, promote it via ads. 4. Lastly ask people to introduce you to people or businesses they may know could use your services. Hope this helps! I'm available for followups if needed!MB

What is the size of micro-consulting industry globally?
Gig economy is taking over industries and consulting is no exception. Global management consulting industry is said to be worth around USD 260 - 300+ billion, depending on how much we blur the line between management and technology consulting. Another research says that 20% of the industry works in micro-consulting firms (freelancers included). If we ponder it by the difference in average contract size, we get approximately USD 20-50 billion. Of course, the trend can be easily observed in a rapid growth of freelancing consulting sites (e.g. as this one). My personal opinion is that it's not really an opinion, but rather a fact. However, the question can be observed and discussed from multiple angles. If you want to get more info, feel free to contact me. :)PS
