MenuHow should I start selling on farfetch.com or yoox.com?
We produce designer dresses and looking new channels to sell. Farfetch and similar platform seems to be a great option, but I can't find how to approach them.

This depends on where you are located but in many major cities (U.S., Europe and Asia) there are showrooms buyers shop. This means, for a fee, your products are guaranteed to be viewed by buyers (though there is no way to guarantee they will select to buy them). These buyers range from local shops to regional chains to department store and boutique buyers. If you are picked up by one or more and show data to these online specialty stores, that is more appealing than a cold turkey approach. Simultaneously building an online following is key as well since both retailers have e-commerce-savvy demos.

Why aren't there any bespoke clothing websites dedicated to daily, basic wear?
I've worked in the fashion industry for several years with and with numerous manufacturers. I think it is because it costs $$$ to make bespoke products. Generally consumers only want to pay $ or $$ for basic clothing. You would have to figure out how to sell basics for $$$. Let me know if you'd like a follow up!BJ

I'm selling books on Ebay Australia for $25, postage is $3. How do I sell globally on Ebay & Amazon when postage is $25 or more?
Have you considered providing the book in electronic format. If somebody wants the book and are willing to pay the shipping fee, they get the paper copy, otherwise, it's a download.JS

How do I sell my product directly to department stores?
Can you offer advice on the best way to contact them?
Get into a showroom that has these connections. I'm with one in Los Angeles so I don't have to worry about sales. I have connections with a few that work with the majors. It will cost a min of 500 a month but that's the way to do it right. Just be aware of Be cautious, as there are showrooms that don't produce results, and simply collect on monthly fees. I'd love to hear more about your product!JK

How can I monetize my fashion blog at an early stage?
First things first - you have 2 ways to monetise. 1 - build an audience 2 - get paid to write (not necessarily on your site). 1 - How to get readers and build an audience If you have an audience then advertisers will pay to promote to your audience. It's important that you ensure your audience find the adverts relevant and appropriate or they will unsubscribe. As a fashion blogger you can often get free product (clothes) from retailers in exchange for your writing about them. I recommend you then sell the clothing to raise funds. When you're a very good popular blogger you can charge money, till then, ask for product. The easiest way to get paid is to install Google AdSense on your site and in your email newsletters. I use FeedBlitz.com as my newsletter distribution service and they also insert adverts (from a different service) into the newsletters. 2 - Get paid to write - go research the online freelance marketplaces like Upwork.com, guru.com, freelance.com and find paid writing gigs. You can often re-purpose writing for your own site at the same time. I often re-use Answers from Clarity.fm for my own blog.
