MenuHow to attract potential sponsors for a Competitive Fitness Athlete?
Answers
I love that she's doing this! I don't have expertise in athletic sponsorships but I am familiar with being a brand ambassador. This is a great way to get on the path toward sponsorships if she's not currently doing that.
Start by taking a look at your purpose as an organization. Your purpose is why you exist beyond profit. If you are unsure what this is, you probably need to define this. This is the emotional connector for your fans, followers, sponsors, community etc. There is a lot more that goes into it but my advice would be to focus on your brand and start with your purpose and build from the inside out. We can talk further if you need more indepth advice.
Hope this helps!
As an agent myself, I would first say that your girlfriend made a smart decision by turning them down if she doesn't feel informed enough or comfortable with the company offering sponsorship. Your name and reputation is now attached to that company once you sign. Secondly you are correct in the idea the sponsorship is a good revenue source. Sponsorship keeps most individual sports athlete financially afloat and in position to compete. I would say that you must educate yourself on the company offering sponsorship and also crunch the numbers on the compensation being offered. Is that enough to be able to sustain or at least help sustain you financially. One sponsor probably will not be enough. If you're going down that route I would honestly say depending on value I would look at three or more sponsors so as to be able to sustain yourself whether your winning competition money or not.
The best way to approach this is to go for the first deal that sort of makes sense and is short term. Meaning, you aren’t committed to this company for long. See how it works. See what the actual work is compared to the price and ask yourself if it’s worth it. You need to be willing to lose here to learn. This is too new of an area and no one has any real answers. I would say yes to anything that isn’t some real garbage company and watch out for scams then take it from there.
Podemos observar que de fato é bastante importante que um atleta possua patrocínio de maneira que seja essencial que o mesmo possa ter condições para seguir sua carreira de modo que sirva como símbolo esportivo e assim consiga fechar parcerias,
These groups represent a large audience that can be influenced by the lifestyle they aspire to lead. Fans take the trust they have in the performance of these athletes and place it in the brands they see these athletes’ support. Whether it is the idea of being that fit, strong and attractive, or the allure of traveling and living a life of glamor, people who attend competitions like marathons are drawn to the ideal persona these athletes represent. In turn, they can meet their goals whether it is brand awareness, increased sales, or something more personal such as improving their sense of corporate social responsibility.

How can I get sponsors or paid sponsors for my newsletter?
Well, if you really want people to pay you for ad placements, I recommend adding some value to them first - retweet them, add insightful comments to their blogs, share their content, promote their stuff. This also gives you an opportunity to gauge how your audience reacts to it, which gives you clout when you start asking them for money. But, I'd also caution you around your assumption that paid ad placements will make your business more money. Yes, you get revenue from the advertisers, but if this is a turnoff for your audience, you lose subscribers, no one clicks and advertisers drop off. The money is in the list - so make sure this is something they want.JO

If you own a marketing firm and you get a percentage from clients, what is a decent agreement and term?
We do marketing partnerships with some of our ongoing accounts. Terms vary from fixed-fee retainers through fixed amount + 10-20% split share to 30-40% fee on new deals. Depending on the specifics of the business and the marketing services provided, the percentage could be for a specific product/service, or the entire business. We do inbound marketing and partnership outreach which increases the brand awareness, grows the email lists of our clients and allows for scheduling cross-promotion campaigns and webinars that support the entire business - hence the added benefit of shared revenue across all products and services. Limiting revenue share for a product is more applicable for larger businesses that have an established marketing and advertising strategy and bring a good number of customers this way. Then a marketing strategy could be shaped around a specific product or a solution which justifies partnering only on a specific venture.MP

What is the best way to get in contact with business experts to give short presentations at my large business conference for entrepreneurs?
I'm going to give you a personal experience. I wanted some business experts to join a panel of judges and this was my "execution plan": Research universities and non-profits where this executives or business people give their time. Why? Most successful people that can teach (both are different skills) feel the need to "give back". So many of them volunteer their time and money on universities or organizations. If you find those who have this characteristics you will be one feet closer to actually being able to reach them. This is because they are "minded" in helping. To approach them I will recommend an exchange where they are not benefit of your conference but someone else is. If you tell a company owner that teaches "entrepreneurship" in a university that you want him to give. "Speech or class" and in exchange you will give 10 tickets for his students, he will be much more receptive of the idea. The other strategy is the one you mentioned and it actually focus on two feelings: possible new clients (leads) form the conference or ego. I would definitely go for the second one, and instead of approaching saying "you will benefit from this" I would go for inflating his/her ego. Hope this could give you some ideas.JC

How should I start the process of opening a sports agency?
I love this question! First off, congrats on the achievements thus far. My name is Humberto Valle, I'm the founder of www.Unthink.me, a small hybrid agency that brings big business solutions to small growing companies. I've helped bring some products to Shark Tank, helped political figures strategize exposure, and helped countless startups. I have a varied portfolio of investments and companies and I'm an evangelist for a 100 Software Engineer team called BetaBulls. Note that I am not a sports agent, your question, however, is more about the creativity of getting started. The very first thing you need is to assume you are an agent if you want to be. With that, the very first thing I would do is ask yourself who your most engaged followers follow - what sport? what athlete? Do you have any athletes as followers? Do they happen to be in the most engaged sport in your feed? Do you have any franchises following you? Even if they are minor, such as MLB and minor league baseball - for example in this sport the players can commonly bounce back and forth from major to minor - it might be easier to start with minor league for example. But what you need to do is not track athletes, if they are known to you - you have to assume they are known to existing and well-connected agents. What you need to do is build exposure and a good relationship with one or 2 franchises and get their direction on who they want, and you try to make it happen for them by finding that athlete, starting the conversation, etc. For the average agent, social media provides little value as far as signing athletes. What you need is the support of the franchises who back you up when you come up to an athlete with a proposal to get them a good deal. For now, it would be a good effort to change your profile info to state that you are an agent (even if you arent) same thing on your website and all other assets.HV
