MenuWould Wordpress/Woocart or Shopify/Shopify Plus be better to establish a life coach blog?
This question has no further details.
Answers
Purely from a blogging perspective, there is no question WP has the better CMS and overall controls/backend for non-programmers. Shopify is recommended more for expanding your ecommerce options with plugins, promo offers etc. Obviously would need more context here as far as feature scope and what your site needs were, but I'd lean more towards WP just based on what you've described. there are a checklist of factors you can go through in order to figure out which open source platform would be most advisable. Happy to connect and offer any insights or guidance I can to get you on the right platform.
The two options you list are very different.
Usually coaches provide content + many times group coaching (also called membership programs).
This means using WordPress + a membership plugin.
I tell my client to avoid WooCommerce, as it's far more complex to use than you'll imagine at first glance.
Using Shopify, means Shopify owns/controls/dictates your entire process, so I never use this platform.
Start with WordPress.
Look for someone who can consult with you about both business practices and technology, like WordPress.
If you can't find anyone like this, you can book a call with me. Either I can help or point you to someone who can.
Disclaimer: I run a high speed, WordPress hosting company + consult with my clients about topics like end-to-end marketing (from ad spends to conversions) + best practices for site scaling (as traffic increases)...
I say this because I've seen people use both WooCommerce + Shopify incorrectly + trying to escape either of these systems, after they're being used... is painful...
Like getting off hard drugs.
Better just never start.
Either Wordpress or Shopify would work for a life coach and it depends a bit on what you plan to sell. Without knowing much about the situation, I'll guess that you'd like to sell services.
While I typically suggest Shopify for most clients, Wordpress (with WooCommerce) may be a better fit for that situation. Shopify is primarily setup for physical products. That doesn't mean it can't be used for selling services. However, there are a lot features that you won't need in Shopify.
With Wordpress/WooCommerce, the biggest benefit would be the blogging features. Wordpress is the most popular blogging platform by far and more than likely, you'll get more out of using those features than the Shopify ecommerce features.
Shopify has a blogging platform as well and it even can be integrated with Wordpress if desired.
Before getting started, it's worth taking sometime to think about how you'll drive people to your site, what you plan to sell, and where to find your target audience.
I've setup stores on both platforms, and even run one of my own on each of Shopify and WooCommerce. There are pros and cons to both and it's certainly situation-dependent.
If you need help choosing, or taking the next step, with a Shopify or WooCoommerce shop, feel free to schedule a call.
Shopify unless you are especially good with creating websites or website management.
Shopify has the apps and an easy to use interface, plus they have a referral program for the platform. I've seen many consulting individuals use Shopify and have a good experience with it.

Does anyone know if there is a slideshow plugin for wordpress available that allows text wrapping without modifying the css?
I don't know any plugins with that specific feature, but I did want to mention this after reading your description. You can target specific pages/posts with CSS, so you can limit text wrap to your about page. You just need to know the page ID. WordPress includes a page specific class in the body tag. It looks like this page-id-123. 123 would be your page ID. See screenshot - http://i.imgur.com/zFldy2T.png So you can simply do something like this: .page-id-123 .slideshow-class { ... } This will limit your CSS changes to the slideshow on this particular page.VN

How would you apply the Systems Mindset to your personal life?
The Systems Mindset would work for your personal life. Consider the following quotes from Sam Carpenter's book "Work the System" : "Unhappy people are not in control of their lives because they spend their days coping with the unintentional bad results of unmanaged systems. Happy people are in control of their lives, spending their days enjoying the intentional good results of managed systems." ..."each of us is a system of systems. But here’s the rub: some of them—each of which, always remember, can be visualized as a distinct entity—are headed in oblique directions, confusing our efforts to reach our conscious goals." So basically, we act as Project Engineers who constantly work to tweak and perfect the various systems that make up the various aspects of our lives. To move forward in an integrated manner rather than "firefighting" or constant crisis management. We start this by taking a stance "above and apart" from the issues so that the distance gives us the detachment to study the various systems that we are part of. Think about the 3 main documents that Sam Carpenter talked about in the book which he says is vital for business. These are :- 1. Strategic Objectives 2. Operating principles 3. Working procedures In your personal life, your strategic objectives would be your ultimate purpose or life mission. Operating principles would be the principles you use to make decisions and should be congruent with your strategic objectives. And working procedures would be how you do any specific "thing". For instance, if one of your strategic objectives is to live with integrity, your guiding principle for that would involve asking if a particular action is congruent with your sense of integrity. Then one of the working procedures for your relationships would deal with honest communication. Eg. in your "Late going home" procedure, you might have the following steps : 1. Call spouse 2. Inform true reason 3. Inform what time you can be expected back. "Inform true reason" would be congruent with your objective. You would communicate the true reason and not an excuse. The above is a rather simplistic example but this entire approach can be useful to all areas of our lives even if we don't create detailed working procedures as we would for businesses. This is how the Systems Mindset can be applied to our personal lives. It would help us identify our values and live more in line with them. And to live more effectively and efficiently too.LN

What Wordpress Plugins is the best for creating a Multi-Level Affiliate Marketing program?
There is a lot of points in your question which unless someone has the exact same setup as you - I don't think you will get the answers you are looking for. I believe you should limit it by asking yourself: What is the ONE thing the MLM plugin I am looking for can do so that it achieves the maximum amount of result to my business by using it? IMHO - it would be the ability to set commissions for the products you sell and award commissions to those affiliates that actually earn you sales. All other features, while nice, are ancillary features that from the perspective of the affiliate - don't really need in order to be successful. In that regard - I would suggest https://affiliatewp.com/. When it comes to running affiliate programs on WP sites, it wins out as the best in my experience. Hope this helps! Glad to assist any further if you need help.TB
