MenuIs the age of a site a huge factor for SEO? If I launch my startup with a new URL, do I have very little chance of being ranked highly for some time?
This question has no further details.

The age of your site is a minor factor. Since there are several factors that will drive you to the top in Google, you have a great chance at ranking high with your new startup. I don't know the details of your company, but can offer you some basic guidelines. 1-follow onsite SEO best practices and ensure you new set is set up properly, 2-follow off-site SEO best practices to drive traffic to your site and build social proof, 3-run some basic PPC ads to further drive traffic to your site. I hope this helps and please don't hesitate to reach out if you have further questions!
yup. it does have a bit negative impact. you may give reference on your new URL or just by incurring a nominal cost on advertisement, you may get to same level, but it may take some time
That is now an SEO myth. You can hear Matt Cutts talk about it https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-pnpg00FWJY
Again, the most important is your content and the backlinks. You may want to make alliances and friends with good site in a related industry with "presence" (DA) so they will link to your website and that will give you significant results. Directories are useful for that but industry related is even better.
Eg.: You in the tourism industry and the Tour Operator alliances list your site, you will have your site crawled quickly and have as much chances as an "old" site if you have good content.
In clear, do not worry about your domain age, but about the content and links to your site .. like a road to your house.
Speaking about SEO myths, that is a great list :

Hope this helps :)
Age of site itself is a relatively minor factor, if at all. What does matter, however, is site authority. Authority takes time to build and you will be disadvantaged against sites that have been building their own authority. If you aggressively pursue web marketing it can take anywhere from 6 months to a year or two to be in a relatively competitive position. That all depends on the competition. If your start up is in a relatively noncompetitive field, it won't take much time at all.
How much your site content is updated is most important. We receive about 300 pieces of new content per month. Each new piece drives a new sitemap into all the search engines, so they crawl us 4-10 times per day. We are always #1 in search priority. FYI, keywords are dead from a Marketing perspective, focus on page tags, content tags, and new content placement and site-mapping, More important is social trend and behavior management.
These are all highly automated today, knowing the behavioral engine logic, and the monetization engine logic and having them in sync is primary mission objective for today's marketing. BTW, most people do not even have a clue on these engines :)
It is a common misconception that the age of a website is a key factor in successful search engine optimization (SEO). While it is true that Google and other search engines do consider the age of a domain when ranking results, this is only one small part of the complex algorithms they use to determine which sites should be shown for a given query. In reality, there are many factors that are more important than age when it comes to SEO, such as the quality of your content, the relevance of your keywords, and the strength of your backlink profile. For SEO, is it better to use sub-directories or sub-domains when geo-targeting by country?
I have been working in SEO for over 10 years and have built search agencies from the ground up. I've also worked with some big brands on International SEO like Active.com, as well as many US based chains like Extended Stay Hotels. I suggest sub-directories as they are MUCH easier to manage and promote via SEO. You can't have specific local IPs with sub-directories, but you can with sub-domains. But that's not hyper critical, there are WAY more important factors. Plus, you can geo-target in Google Webmaster Tools. Your current structure for sub-directories is perfect: http://drivingtests101.com/Canada/Ontario With subdomains, each will be treated like a brand new site. So you would have to work very hard to get each to gain good authority SEO-wise. Plus managing and hosting lots of subdomains is a ton of work! In order to not get penalized you need to: Implement the the "lang" and "hreflang" tags in the HTML of each country directory and all pages within. Have unique Title tags and descriptions written in each language. Have unique content for each country and state page. Written in each respective language. Yes, its a TON of work but hey, you are trying to take over the world! If you are serious about international search traffic then you will do these things and the costs should be balanced out with the extra traffic you'll get. If you can make the root domain super authoritative then it will boost ALL of the internal pages. This is also key to ranking well for international search. How Google can index/reindex my page as quickest as possible, as and where there is some change happen in the content?
Hi, Your site is a Q&A so I presume that every time someone create a new Question it will generate a unique URL for that. Indepentend if you have or not an answer you want Google to crawl and index your site as quick as possible to start to analyzing the new page and bring traffic to it. The best way to expedite this "re-crawling" is to use a ping service that you can trigger after your user answer the question. PS: If you site is updated frequently you shouldn't have a problem with crawling, because Google usually identify this type of website really quick. Drop me a call is free for this week. Best,YM

What is a reasonable price for SEO services?
The cost of SEO depends a great deal on three things: 1) The specific services being offered (SEO, social media, content strategy, etc.) 2) The degree in which those services will be implemented (how many hours per month) 3) the skill and experience level of the SEOs involved. $800/month is a pretty small investment if you consider all the layers to making a web marketing campaign successful. My company will usually not touch any fully-managed web marketing campaign for less than $1500/month and that's at the low end of the aggressiveness meter even for a pretty basic site. A larger ecommerce site might start around $5K and go up from there. Overall, you want to look for value and results. You'll want to know how long the SEO has been in business and when looking at proposals you need to understand the amount of time the company will be investing in the campaign. You also want to spell out your goals and establish the expectations on how/when those goals will be achieved. When the SEO and client don't have the same expectations, that can lead to issues later on. But if you know what the goals are you can both be on the same page from the start.SD

My business offers two different types of services. Should I combine them in one webpage, or create two?
Two key concerns are 1. Customer confusion with the 2 offerings: Imagine being in an art gallery that sells photography training and fine art or a book store that tries to sell you fine art. Even if it's the same group of people, they may be in very different mind-sets and hence may not associate both together. 2. SEO challenges with mixed messages you're sending. Which keywords would you optimize for which part of the site? Advantage would be if the customer base is the same group of people, hence offering cross-sell opportunities. For instance, if your MAIN source of leads for the training site is the art site, then this would be more important. In general, I would suggest one site for one customer group. If there is likely to be a very high overlap, then same site, with multiple sub-sites might work. In matter of fact, it'll probably be EASIER to do two sites for this than one site. Your designer will thank you :) Then tastefully add cross-links in the places where someone is likely to use them. For instance the art gallery could have a post 'How I make art' and links to your other business there. And the photog training site would have your art pics with subtle on-image links to your art biz. While I'm not a branding expert, I do find that my engineering lead approach to challenges in Marketing/Sales usually works, and provides clarity and direction.PK

What is the best way to write blog articles to maximise SEO benefit? I know the needs of my audience, will address them but also like SEO traffic.
Great question, To get traffic from SEO it must be done diligently. And the best way to do that is from a well structured article. The key things to remember that will help your pages rank well: Keyword Headings Put your most important keywords here. They must be coherent, simple yet descriptive. If your blog allows you to insert H1 headings into your article, do so. Don't cram too much info into keywords though, Search engines are smart and recognize when someone is spamming. Maybe do a bit of research using 'Google Keyword Tool' In Google Adwords and see if your keywords are popular search terms. Links and Back links Include links to relevant info when you can, the more credible sources your website links to, the better appeal it has to search engines. Also include back links. Back links are links to a location somewhere that also features a link going directly back to your site, these also give your article good standing. Duplicate Content Try not to say anything twice, and if you do use different terminology. But the main focus here is to always write fresh content. If the content of your article has been written word for word somewhere else first how can yours possibly be more credible? Also write often, the more frequent you post articles, the more frequently your site will be "crawled" by bots. If you do this well your listing can only rise. Be Unique and have the Best Info This entails just doing what you do and doing it well. It might be difficult to compete with other websites if the topic your discussing is already covered in great detail. The best position to be in is one of having information that everyone wants but cannot find anywhere else. A good tip for this is finding a specific niche that suits you well to draw in traffic to your general topic. Hope this helps you get started.
