MenuWhere would you look for writing prompts for a home decor blog?
I have a home decor blog, however I don´t always have enough ideas on what to write. Where would you look for information on this topic? What is your favorite home decor topic?
Thank you

Hi! I find that taking the same topics and just tweaking them slightly for a very specific demographic is helpful. So, ways to update your kitchen + millennials = a nifty piece on the trends millennials are looking for in a customized article just for them. Ways to repurpose barn wood + living in a small apartment = a customized piece on small barn wod projects that fit any space! You can always interview someone from that demographic. This method helps for SEO and for bringing new readers to your blog. Good luck!
I'd start with an informal reader survey. Talk to the "ideal" reader of your blog -- likely, you know these people personally. What questions do they have? What would they like answers to? What do they want to see more (or less) of?
Next, consider a formal reader survey. Michael Hyatt does a wonderful job and outlines his process here: http://michaelhyatt.com/tag/survey
I'm happy to help more. The answer to your question is right under your nose.
Look to the categories on your blog. For each category (like a chapter in a book), write down 5 topics you could address that answers a question of your reader or comments on your industry or shows how to do something. Do that for each category and you'll find you have the prompts for many posts. Feel free to connect if you would like to discuss further. I've been blogging and teaching clients to blog since 2004 so I have a lot to say about this!
Try to answer questions people have about home decor! Poll friends (or better yet, the readers on your blog) to find out what plagues/inspires them the most (kind of like what you did in your question by asking us about our favorite home decor topic). Troubleshooting, short cuts, DIY and personal stories about how you handled the same situation always has appeal. I'd also grab a few home decor magazines and see what those features look like. To answer your question, I'd like a slightly different angle -- cleaning. What's the point of home decor if the space is filled with clutter? ;-) Good luck and reach out if you'd like any help! I have three websites (two author sites and one foodie site) and have helped several others with their lifestyle/living blogs.
Whatever your creation process looks like, write it down so that readers can understand the hard work that goes into your projects. To bolster the previous prompt, discuss your creative lifestyle in depth by sharing photos of your ceramic-making process from start to finish. This will dissolve the barrier between you and your readers and will give fans the opportunity to know you in a personal way. Blogging is important because in addition to supporting your search engine optimization, it gives your business a personality.

Who do you first reach out to when you're starting a blog with no initial readership?
Are you already submitting your content to social bookmarking sites like Reddit and StumbleUpon? Those sites are great for gaining early traction. As soon as possible, start making a serious effort to convert visitors to subscribers so that you can rely less on social bookmarking sites. Make a list of the 20 most influential writers in the space and reach out to them. At the very least, they might share one of your posts. They might even agree to trading guest posts. Write posts that maximize outreach potential. The more people you can tell about your content authentically (e.g. "I mentioned you in my latest post."), the more pageviews you'll see.SM

What is the best way to write blog articles to maximise SEO benefit? I know the needs of my audience, will address them but also like SEO traffic.
Great question, To get traffic from SEO it must be done diligently. And the best way to do that is from a well structured article. The key things to remember that will help your pages rank well: Keyword Headings Put your most important keywords here. They must be coherent, simple yet descriptive. If your blog allows you to insert H1 headings into your article, do so. Don't cram too much info into keywords though, Search engines are smart and recognize when someone is spamming. Maybe do a bit of research using 'Google Keyword Tool' In Google Adwords and see if your keywords are popular search terms. Links and Back links Include links to relevant info when you can, the more credible sources your website links to, the better appeal it has to search engines. Also include back links. Back links are links to a location somewhere that also features a link going directly back to your site, these also give your article good standing. Duplicate Content Try not to say anything twice, and if you do use different terminology. But the main focus here is to always write fresh content. If the content of your article has been written word for word somewhere else first how can yours possibly be more credible? Also write often, the more frequent you post articles, the more frequently your site will be "crawled" by bots. If you do this well your listing can only rise. Be Unique and have the Best Info This entails just doing what you do and doing it well. It might be difficult to compete with other websites if the topic your discussing is already covered in great detail. The best position to be in is one of having information that everyone wants but cannot find anywhere else. A good tip for this is finding a specific niche that suits you well to draw in traffic to your general topic. Hope this helps you get started. What keywords would work for 'general' lifestyle blog about life in Sydney, Australia?
Creating successful (you define what this means) content online, no matter the topic or audience, is dependent upon research. Use online tools such as Google Trends, Google Suggested Search, Keyword Planner, etc., to discover what people are searching for. You can then use this data to create "buyer personas" - which allow you to build profiles of the different types of people that you want to consume your content. Once your buyer personas are accomplished, you can assign specific keywords and phrases to each and begin writing. If you're interested in learning the details of each, along with the next steps, I'd be happy to help! Good luck!JF

I have a monthly continuity program (infoproduct/coaching based).
How can I get 100 paying members at $37/month in the next year?
Place your program on JVZoo or another affiliate marketing platform and pay an affiliate fee to the marketers for promoting your program. Give away a lot of free but valuable content to your online sphere of influence through twitter, linkedin, G+, FB, etc. If you would like to schedule a free call, I'd be happy to spend a few minutes to help you out.
