Coming from the buy-side, I'm sure I have a different spin than those sales & marketing gurus who I'm sure will be keen to help you & comment shortly.
You're lucky because there are SO many avenues these days. However it is hard to keep on top of them all and there's no one stop shop currently. Having worked in the public sector, I can help provide you with some of their advertised opportunity / tender sites. These tend to be very high value & very competitive but they also are well advertised in advance (unlike the private sector). There's also a few private sector customer/supplier portals around in recent years which link people together to obtain/provide this expertise. I'll be happy to point you in the right direction of some I've used & discovered on a call, if you wish.
To find individual projects I might also suggest starting with freelancing sites like Upwork (recently rebranded from oDesk), Freelancer, Elance, Toptotal (for developers), Crew, Get A Coder etc. Whilst they tend to be more bespoke, they're getting more prominently used by larger companies now.
Betalist and similar startup "launch" sites house a pretty updated list of software-based products that are being built. Betalist in particular is for beta level software projects, so at the point when they'd be looking for these types of solutions.
That's a bigger question than it seems at first glance. I might reframe it this way? How can SwiftLaunch generate more business? If you're focusing in on direct sales, I'm guess that has worked well as a traction channel. Have you tried any others? But the macro-level question aside, let me share two ideas: 1) If you're wanting lists of new tech projects and startups, then try Product Hunt. You can cross-reference interesting "candidates" you discover there with Angel List to see which of them seem to have raised funds (assuming that you're wanting to generate sales from these new relationships and that these companies need to have money). 2) Can you think of any non-competitive companies that already have the customers you want. Here's a bad example: a pool & spa company can share customers with a high-end landscaping and custom home building companies.
When you're reaching out to strategic partners, ask first how you can help them rather than asking for their help. Look for ways to add value to their sales and marketing. The rest should take care of itself.

I have no experience with salons, but marketing is my thing. So I'll give you some suggestions of what to think about, followed by what to do. Do you have clients already (let's say from your working days at another salon)? If so, you can start profiling them. You can ask them to fill out a form in exchange for a free gift (maybe one of those creams you use in the salon), or an entry to a raffle (where the prize is valuable). In the profiling, you want to look out for which neighborhoods they live in, what kinds of activities they like to do, what kinds of social events they love to do, and their occupations. Then, using each of those profile data, you can market to more prospects who share the same characteristics. For example, - You can set aside a budget to send flyers to specific neighborhoods. In order to get people into the door, maybe you can offer a certain procedure for free in exchange for opportunities to win new regular customers. (You could theoretically do this with Groupon too, but you have less control of who comes into your door) - You could set up joint venture relationships with organizations like ball room dancing schools, professional associations, etc. You could offer an exclusive discount with those groups to entice potential customers to try out your service. More opportunities for you to win regular customers. - With certain demographic data, you can probably make the same offer by advertising on Facebook. If you target specific enough, you can get the price of acquiring the lead to be pretty cheap. You would have to figure out your typical lifetime value of your customers before deciding whether advertising on Facebook would be worthwhile. I don't even know how to answer this. Do you know what the difference between McDonalds and the local burger joint that is filing for bankruptcy is? It's marketing. McDonalds is worth billions of dollars not because of the quality of their food, but because of their marketing. Marketing is not an expense. A janitor is an expense. Your computer is an expense. Marketing is an INVESTMENT. Would you shop around for the cheapest heart surgeon? Of course not. Because you would likely end up dead. Why, then, do you shop around for a marketing expert? Are you ok with your company going bankrupt? Is that worth the small savings to you? No. Of course not. Hire someone who is good at marketing. Hire someone who knows what they are doing. Buy yourself a Lamborghini with your profit the first quarter. Get a beach house in hawaii. Grab a yacht. Or, try to find your business the cheapest heart surgeon you can and then spend the next five years wondering why such a solid business idea failed in the first 6 months. I'm passionate about this exact topic because all those statistics you read about "70% of businesses failing in two years" are solely because of horrible marketing.AM

Here are some answers for you that I believe will help you. 1. You should implement a long term and short term strategy right at the beginning. What I mean is that there are essential parts to your marketing like SEO and content marketing that you need to implement right in the beginning, but will take a while to filter through, but these are essential if you want to have organic traffic. That would be L-T. The best for Short term for a newly launched site is ad's. Word of warning though. Know your customers demographics such as age, income, education etc, know your competitors demographics and then find the platform (such as social media channels) where your ideal customer is based on those researched demographics and then roll out targeted ad's for them. 2. You have to implement social media strategies right from the beginning of course, based on your demographic research. 3. Get busy Blogging - start with content marketing now. 4. Sweepstakes - start a giveaway to get traction with clients and create awareness. 5. Make sure you collect emails as these are like gold dust for future email marketing. 6. Video marketing is essential for competitive retail space and very powerful to get found on search engines like Google. Prior to me launching my digital marketing business 5 years ago, I built an online retail business and made many expensive mistakes. And they can be costly if not implemented correctly from the beginning. So in summary: SEO - very important, Ad's, Social Media, Sweepstakes, Blogging, Video & email marketing. How did Snapchat boast a solid user base within a short period of time, compared to Facebook and Twitter?
I've been in the picture messaging space for a while now with my apps Lutebox (voted one of London's top ten most loved apps) and now Click Messenger. I've written a few articles about the space including a recent post about the Future of Mobile Messaging. Snapchat started out as an app called Picaboo, which pretty much did what it does now (prior to the latest update with chat and video calling). They quickly rebranded but saw a little uptake in user numbers and had quite low downloads for several months. Then around Christmas 2011 one of the founders' mom had told her friend about the app, who told her kid and her kid basically then spread the word throughout their high school in L.A. That was what really blew up their download numbers as it spread across teenagers at local high schools. As far as I know they didn't advertise in the early days, relied solely on word of mouth. Also it is assumed that they have a solid user base. Comparatively speaking, their user base may be in the low tens of millions, which may a great base of users, but nowhere even close to being as big as Facebook or Twitter.
