MenuWhat's the most effective way of uncovering profitable target audiences for Facebook Ads.
Answers
Hi,
if you need to uncover new interests, you might find Facebook Graph Search useful (you need to have your Facebook language set as English US before anything else).
Start typing this phrase into your Facebook search bar: "Pages liked by people who like XYZ" - this will open a list of the most common pages of people that also like XYZ.
You can get even more granular:
- Pages liked by people who live in United States and who like NBA
- Pages liked by people who live in United States and who like NBA and Houston Rockets
- Interests liked by people who live in United States and who like Basketball
As you said, trying out lookalikes based on your custom audience, website custom audiences, or conversion pixels could be another way.
Also, one additional way to bring your CPA down would be to remarket to everyone who have already visited your website by using Perfect Audience or Facebook website custom audiences.
Finally, you should have some strategies implemented for overcoming ad fatigue. Instead of running a campaign continuously for a very long time, use the newly added scheduling feature to spread it out: have it active for 1-2 days, then add 2-3 days off. Also, upload numerous different visuals for the same campaign and set up ad rotation, so that every 2-3 days a different ad is shown to the audience.
I hope this will help you improve your campaigns, and if you wanted to discuss it further, feel free to let me know!
Cheers,
Adomas
Some great suggestions by Adomas. Here are few more you can try -
- target people who like brands (which you sell on your site)
- target people who like 5-10 competitor's sites (for each product category)
- find pages/interests liked by people who like your page and get ideas from there
- expand your lookalike audience beyond top 1%
Above should help you expand your reach. Now to increase conversions, you must do re-targeting for those who visit the site and you must keep expanding the lookalike audience based on your "buyers" list.
If you need more help in setting up or scaling up huge campaigns, let me know.
First of all, always find out what your competition is doing. Then use the scientific advertising approach (Claude Hopkins), test, test, test. One way of testing is to make your ads more interactive.
Don't stop taking massive action.
Best of Luck,

What will happen if I bid lower than the recommended price for Facebook ads?
It's actually very smart to do it the way you are doing it. We do this all the time and have tested it extensively. What you want to do is to see if your ad is getting enough "reach" at the 20 cent click level. Reach is the amount of times your ad is shown. If there aren't many others bidding, you can bid pretty low and still get lots of reach. However, if your ad isn't getting shown much, you'll know that you should raise your ad price. Make sure you also test using Optimized CPM versus paying for clicks as well. Hope that helps.PG

Why do sales from my Facebook ads only happen the first few days?
Thank you for sharing this question! The sales usually happen when the ads first run because Facebook knows who the most likely buyers are and once the ads have shown once, you are likely reaching the same people over and over. The ad campaigns I have found that make the best sales are in the format of a post on a page with a lot of social proof. If your ads do not have social proof, then only the early adopters will buy. If your ads have thousands of likes, shares, and comments from a post on your page, then you can count on mainstream sales. What are the best practices in generating millions of likes on a Facebook Page?
Most of those are very good at syndicating content. Because Facebook doesn't do much in terms of copyright infringement, people can take great content from other places and use it for their own pages. If you do that and include a paid strategy behind it, you have the ability to grow your page quickly.BM

My sales funnel is only performing well on ads from Facebook's similar lookalike custom audience. However, the reach is below 200k. How do I scale it?
I don't know if you have tried this yet, but sometimes having a lookalike custom audience that is 99% similar doesn't always preform better than the lookalike audience that is 97% similar. If I were you I would go through AB test each of the different lookalike audiences, so try 99% vs 98% vs 97% vs 96% vs 95% and see if the less similar audiences will still give you good results, because they should also have a larger audience group for you to market towards. Also have you AB tested interest groups? I'm not sure what your exact niche is but i've worked on campaigns where certain interest groups preformed better than the lookalike audiences. If you're spending a decent amount of money on Facebook ads, having a professional go through and AB test your ads can be a very good idea. It's the difference between having a good ad & knowing you have a perfect ad.KC

Why are my Facebook and Twitter ads delivering very low impressions?
Your interpretation of Facebook's ad platform is pretty accurate and it may not be the best fit for your purposes. This may not be the answer you're looking for, but I don't feel that traditional FB and Twitter ads offer the quality or quantity of leads you are looking for. Given that you are hyper focused on location, you want to target groups / events / organizations in your area. You are targeting small business owners so you may want to target professional networks like LinkedIn. Posting into local groups or running ads should be more successful than FB and Twitter. You are targeting business minded people while they are on a business minded network. I'm sure you are targeting ad networks because they are automated and light touch. But you may want to look at listing on websites like https://www.sharedesk.net/. Lastly, there's always a good old fashioned Craigslist post! :) If you would like to talk more about your options, feel free to give me a call. Best of luck!BK
