I was told not to have my service company be under the same name as my product company. Service company - we create apps for other
Products - we create our own apps.
Basically, we use the profit that we make with our service company to fund in the products that we wish to launch. It takes a little bit more time, but being a small team we don't necessarily have the staff to go hunting for investors.

Well you can always make the service company the parent company and the product company the subsidiary company or vice versa.
But honestly I don't see why you can't work everything under the same company name. Is there specific reasons you were given why not to do it? I have seen a lot of app development companies who do both under the same company name.
