Recent roles have included;
Team Lead of RAPID discharge team in Emergency Department and with the Acute Medicine team in the Mater Hospital in Dublin, Ireland.
Provision of occupational therapy to inpatients of the National Isolation Unit, National Centre for Cardiothoracic Surgery, Neurology service and Medicine for the Elderly.
Provision of occupational therapy to trauma and elective surgical inpatients of the orthopaedic, vascular and plastics services in Beaumont Hospital.
I have a clear understanding of activity analysis and collaborative goal setting while working with patients under the stroke and medicine for the Elderly services in St. Joseph’s Hospital Rehabilitation Unit (Beaumont Hospital).
Prior to joining the acute setting, I worked as a paediatric occupational therapist. The assessment for DCD and sensory processing disorders played a large part in this role. Use of the Alert Program with the 0-17 age group assisted in the development of individualised diets for sensory processing disorders.
I am particularly open to implementation of new systems to enhance staff wellbeing in the workplace. I have recently facilitated a Wellness Program for staff of the Mater Hospital. I am interested to complete further research to look at effective communication styles, the occupational demands and increasing levels of burnout in the healthcare industry.
