Author of Bootstrapping Machine Learning. PAPIs.io General Chair. Data consultant. Former startup guy who served as Product Manager, CSO and CEO. Bootstrapped new technology in 3 innovative web apps.
I am the author of Bootstrapping Machine Learning, the first book to democratize Machine Learning by explaining how to use Prediction APIs. As a former startup founder, Product Manager and CEO, I have the business acumen necessary to deliver concrete value from technology. As General Chair of PAPIs.io, the International Conference on Predictive APIs and Apps, I am always on top of the best ways to use machine learning in a business or product and of what other companies do in this space.
I will show you how to use Machine Learning to... - Improve user/customer experience, engagement and satisfaction, by observing their behavior and predicting their needs and interests - Exploit the value of customer data: predict churn (attrition), score leads automatically, identify upsell opportunities, predict new products' revenue, optimize pricing… - Differentiate yourself from competitors with smart product features - Save time by having a machine categorize/tag objects automatically (think customer emails routing, spam detection, document classification, etc.)
Louis was always here to share his knowledge and support me during my time at Codole. To me, his best qualities are his very strong appetite for learning and talent for teaching, especially Machine Learning. Louis is also a very humble and open-minded individual, which makes working with him a stimulating experience. He was my supervisor during my internship and he helped me develop my knowledge and passion for data science. Seriously, his enthusiasm is contagious.
I worked with Louis as one of the co-organiser of the Exploration & Exploitation Challenge and the associated workshop at ICML 2011. Louis did an excellent job obtaining the data for the challenge, liasing with the companies involved in the challenge and creating the website for the challenge. Overall I found Louis a pleasure to work with.
Louis did an excellent phd. He has excellent technical skills and undertook significant theoretical analysis. He is also able to translate ideas into practical algorithms and developed a number of novel approaches in his work. He also has the determination to see through projects to completion, always a challenge for PhD work. He is very pleasant to work with and works well in a team.
I have been working with Louis for a year and a half at eAuteur, the startup and web app he co-founded with Christophe Labrousse. As a Product Manager, Louis invests all his creativity in the development of the service. A visionary and a strategist, he imagines the future of eAuteur with the desire to achieve a double goal : to best satisfy end users and to ensure the best positioning of eAuteur in its ecosystem.
Louis is passionate about the web, new technologies, and their impact on users' lives. He keeps himself informed of new services and web marketing techniques, and he envisions how they can serve his goals. Louis constantly pushes eAuteur toward modernity. I am sure that, without him, eAuteur would not be the same in terms of design, functionalities and user experience, and it would not be the promising company it is today.
Besides, it is really pleasant to work with Louis each day. A brilliant individual and team worker, he doesn’t get stuck on a problem and systematically finds inventive solutions in order for the project to progress in optimal conditions.
Louis is pragmatic and creative. When we were working on our Ensimag IT-projects, he was always capable to choose the best solution to reach our goals. Recently, we set up an event for startup creators and I was confirmed that Louis is a reliable and positive person to work with.
Louis was a great student and a thinker at UCL. He was a great thinker very committed, enthusiastic about what he was studying and the tasks ahead and a keen learner. Louis works well within a team and has great leadership and management skills, too. I highly recommend him
Louis has been very helpful to me and I have made use of his huge know-how when it comes to computer programming. I met Louis when I was doing a master in machine learning at UCL, while Louis was already doing his PhD, and he supported me when I had questions and helped me achieve a very good result in that course. Now, during my PhD, he is still very helpful and happy to provide me wiith assistance when I need it.
Louis is a diligent PHD student who inspires and motivate me to implement new methods, patients in explaining new algorithms and gives suggestions for making my master thesis better in machine learning aspects.
Louis is a hard working and capable individual, able to undertake challenges and provide creative solutions.
