Technology Career Pathways: What Opportunities Exist and How You Can Reach Them!

I'll help you to understand different career opportunities available in the technology sector, give you a plan to explore these opportunities, and let you know about different education pathways to reach these opportunities.

I love to help people interested in technology careers to find career pathways that are right for them! Technology careers can be a big, confusing space with many different job opportunities. Technology is a lot more than just coding... it's design, management, user experience and a whole lot more! There are also many different ways of accessing these careers (e.g. go to college, online learning, coding bootcamps, etc.). I love to use my experience in this area to help people!

I've worked as a post-secondary educator at the community College and University levels for 17 years teaching computer science, software development and related courses. As part of this, I've been extensively involved in "outreach" activities aimed at helping youth to explore technology career pathways. I've also been very involved in technology community building, organizing hundreds of hackathons, tech demo nights, tech talks, conferences and other events. These efforts have involved hundreds of tech companies and thousands of individuals, and I have won a Professor Award of Excellence and a "Tech Citizen of the Year" award in the process. All of this experience has given me an excellent view of the technology sector and career pathways.

I get so many people asking me for advice already that I thought I'd use this platform to reach a larger audience!
