Founder at Hydros (acquired in 2013). Founder at Rapid-prints.com. Director at Global Water Alliance (water non-profit). Ask me about consumer products, industrial design, prototyping, manufacturing, fundraising, social enterprise, and more.
I've taken back of the envelope sketches and turned them into several lines of mass market consumer products. My experience includes:
- consumer product design - rapid prototyping including FDM, SLA, SLS, vacuum forming, casting, and machining - domestic and overseas manufacturing (United States, China, and India) - injection molding, blow molding, and contract packaging - food processing, manufacturing, and inspection - plastic molding tool design
I've drafted and filed several utility and design provisional and non-provisional filings. I've also been granted several trademarks and copyrights. All IP to date is with chemical and mechanical subject matter, specifically in the water filtration space.
In 2012 I was named one of Forbes Magazine's "6 Entrepreneurs Who Turned Service Into A Career" for my social enterprise Hydros (alongside the founder of TOMS). Hydros is a for-profit that takes proceeds from the sales of our products and invests in infrastructure to provide clean water for those who need it most. In a 1-for-1 model similar to TOMS, for each bottle sold, we generated 2000 gallons of clean drinking water for a villager in need. Our projects were focused on sustainability and had strict requirements for appropriate technology, community buy-in, local ownership, and on-the-ground partnership. Through this, we were able to maintain very high capital efficiency, and ensure our consumers' impact was felt throughout the world.
