Howard and the Harbrooke Group worked with us on the initial social media training and internal social strategy for the New York Road Runners. He and his colleagues helped us create a social media policy for employees, and public policies for use on Facebook and other presences. Harbrooke helped us evaluate metrics vendors, and assisted our internal team in setting up our initial social media dashboard and weekly social media status reporting. Using his network and contacts, Howard got us connections to vendors and business development leads. He was also instrumental in our social media coverage of the 2010 and 2011 ING NYC Marathons, including managing comments and tracking Twitter and Facebook, and creating videos at the Marathon expos for use on the Marathon Facebook pages. Just as I have considered self fortunate to know Howard for the past 3+ years through the mutual love of social media we share, I consider myself fortunate to have had the opportunity to work with Howard.
His considerable patience, ability to multitask an still focus on the priority at hand, and willingness to go the extra steps to make things work are only exceeded by his knowledge of the subject and willingness to share that.
He is that rare guy who can be overwhelmingly busy, but will take the time to focus completely on what you are saying and what his response is, even if he only has 5 minutes in between other commitments.
I once had the opportunity to recommend Howard to a complete stranger at a Starbuck's in Denver who was discussing rather openly the 2 people that her company had narrowed their social media consulting down to. Despite the fact that he was on the other side of the country, hearing only his first name was sufficient for me to excuse myself into the conversation and as if the woman was talking about Howard Greenstein. She was stunned that I knew who she was referring to despite only having a first name to go on.
But Howard is that caliber of social media professional. I didn't hesitate recommending him and I wouldn't hesitate were I given the opportunity again.
