I was lucky enough to work with Bill at two jobs. The first was at Tribal DDB and the second at Catapult. He's been a fantastic mentor and all-around great guy. I would jump at the opportunity to work with him for a third time.
Bill is quick to understand challenges at hand, but never goes for the simple answer. He's always impressed me with his creative thinking and understanding of all the angles. He listens to ideas and will always go forth with the best solution, even if it isn't his. Beyond being a great thinker, he's always a favorite with clients. He's charismatic and can lead a room to a solution. Finally he's a fun guy to work with. He's got fire in the belly and a great sense of humor.
I was fortunate enough to have the pleasure of working with Bill during a large-scale global agency transition during 2012. He has many strengths including a wealth of knowledge of the digital media space, an understanding of the dynamics in a complex and changing environment, the ability to get up to speed quickly on current business initiatives, and the ability to see new opportunities for growth. Most of all, he has a strong bias for consumer insights, which I greatly appreciated. In short, he was a great partner and I'd welcome the opportunity to once again work with Bill.
"Those were the days" is a cliche often thrown around, but I feel that way about my tenure working under the leadership of Bill. He was a tremendous leader to the digital group, giving us a clear sense of purpose and big-digital-agency swagger. Bill never ceased to amaze me with his intelligence, strategic abilities, and zen-like approach to problem solving. He's also a genuinely good guy - someone that'll push for the best interests of the organization, but also is a completely relatable and approachable human being to his team - no matter your title. I've enjoyed working with Bill on the General Motors business. He is a strong strategic thinker and truly understands the clients' business objectives and goals. Bill showed stellar thought leadership throughout our partnership together, and helped me keep all pieces of the business moving. He helped me navigate the complex GM client and agency structures as well. Bill is a great leader, but also a great partner for a senior creative person like myself. Bill and I worked at Catapult for just under 2 years with each other. When I started Bill was the head of the Interactive Department and then got promoted to President of Catapult Westport.
What I liked about Bill was that he cared about the company and drove the company in a direction to try to obtain more business. He also is a very strong leader. However, most importantly, a person in his position is extremely busy and under a lot of pressure at all times; which he handled with ease. But most importantly he was never too busy to hear what someone had to say, and took the time out to know each individual as a person. I felt very comfortable with Bill due to this and will attest that he helped me grow personally and professionally.
