Before you write, you need to know two things about your audience -- how they pursue pleasure and how they avoid pain -- because those are the only two things that will move someone into action. I've found that most persona research doesn't dive deep enough to help us write content that's compelling. So, I've built a research methodology and software to help business understand their customers' motivations. This process also quantify the confidence that a specific marketing tactic will work.
