While Umaimah has an excellent theoretical foundation, she is able to comfortably put aside the theory and get to grips with the real issues in a business. She is always prepared and comes with lots of energy making it a pleasure to work with her.

I have had the distinct pleasure of knowing Umaimah for several years, both in a professional and personal capacity. I reported to her at Microsoft performing product planning and marketing work in the Startup Business Group. Umaimah frequently demonstrated herself to be a brilliant strategist, providing deep and relevant insights that significantly impacted the direction of the business. Time and again, I saw her talent at establishing credibility across all levels of the organization and setting up members of her team for success. She stayed grounded in her beliefs, but was reasonable with considering other angles on the problem. She carried herself with the utmost confidence and professionalism and was viewed as a critical team member.

On a personal level, I have worked closely with Umaimah on the non-profit she founded, thedreamfly.org. As their Director of Communications, I have worked with her extensively on many of our organizations projects and have found her to be a passionate and motivated visionary, who is deeply committed to our cause. Through her commitment and, I believe, through the passion she radiates for dreamfly, she has created a community of supporters who are tremendously engaged in our success. She’s tireless in her efforts to make dreamfly a success, which serves as an inspiration for all of us who volunteer our time. It’s an honor to work with her and see the impacts we are making on children’s lives all over the world.

All this aside, Umaimah is an amazing individual – supremely smart, generous and kind. She’s incredibly creative and brings wonderful energy to the team. I have enjoyed working with her and am incredibly honored to call her not just a colleague, but a friend.
