Ronald Vanschoren is a freelance technology consultant and entrepreneur with strong experience in embedded systems and mechatronics.
As CTO of Fx-Motion, a leading camera robotics manufacturer, Ronald lead the R&D team during the development of the company's automated robotics system. He played a key role in creating the industry-changing, proven technology that is now widely used on TV shows like American Idol, The Eurovision Song Contest, Britain's Got Talent and in leading news broadcast studios of the BBC, n-tv (RTL Group), ABC and more. Ronald also helped structure the company for growth, unlocking a wider market potential. Fx-Motion was acquired by Ross Video, a global live television equipment company, and is now known as Ross Robotics.
Previously Ronald consulted with Thomson (now Technicolor), and worked on broadband gateways developed to customer specifications. His work at Thomson touched on a varied set of areas. These include embedded development, wireless and wired communication protocols, project management, and more. Ronald was tasked to work in close cooperation with the customer to develop new features and abilities for their hardware. Some of his work includes the world's first deployment of the now popular Fon hotspot service on residential gateways/routers. He lead a team of 9 developers and was responsible for all high-profile customer projects, such as the BT Home Hub 1 & 2 with British Telecom. Part of his work at Thomson was also patented, referencing him as one of the inventors.
Ronald gained a lot of experience as freelance consultant and holds a Masters degree in Electronic Engineering. He was nominated for and won several awards with his thesis at Barco.
